POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

[note: for those watching—the audio has a lag, hoping it’s just a buffer issue in the replay + wasn’t an issue live but bear with me as I figure it out!]

CRYING!!!! So so honored to have launched this new series, starting with one of my very best friends @awildword - “Advice from Alumni” is all about College & Career Conversations that are real + relatable. For years now I’ve observed how the industry of higher education socializes all of us, and I’ve been longing to bring to the forefront conversations that are resonant to those of us who perhaps didn’t or don’t know what we want to do, struggle with the pressure to do the “right” thing (aka what is most financially sound and economical), and wind up lost and unfulfilled in career paths for years long after graduation.

This is the stuff we don’t really talk about, especially not in this way. Until now.

This series is my antidote to the stress of “having it all figured out” - through real stories from real people, we’ll learn how to diffuse that pressure and embrace ease in its place.

Whether you’re in high school, college, grad school, the parent of one, or working full time in your career, I trust you’ll find—as one person commented on the Live—pearls of wisdom to take away from it all. My hope and intention was and always will be that these discussions inspire you to #carpediem - to seize your own day and make your life extraordinary.

Completely overwhelmed by how lucky I am to have such brilliant, creative, dynamic, daring, genuine, successful, and talented friends to celebrate—thank you again @awildword for joining me today, I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the series.

Love to you all!

A dear friend of mine recently told me that I deserved to take up more space. It terrified me, so I knew I should try. This is me trying 😊. I didn’t feel able to come out as queer until I was 27 years old, and I wasn’t comfortable exploring my gender for years after that. As I continue to uncover more of who I am, it is essential that I find representation that affirms and supports my unique expressions. For anyone on this journey, it is essential to have access to stories that celebrate a full range of gender expressions, as we do the often scary work of challenging norms. How does this relate to me as a writer, you ask? I’ll tell you! My words exist in an imagined future; a future where we all understand the importance of exposing ourselves and our kids (and our friends’ kids and our neighbors’ kids and our sisters’ kids) to stories with a diverse cast of characters in a variety of situations so that #celebratingourselves isn’t quite so hard to do 😘To learn more about my current projects —> LINK IN BIO! ...............................................................

During my MFA years at #sarahlawrencecollege, the incredible poet and teacher #patrickrosal asked me to memorize a poem. I chose #thewildiris by #louiseglück. At the time, I was closeted, and terrified to face myself though I desperately wanted to see. This poem became a key that unlocked my future. In her words, “at the end of my suffering/ there was a door.” And readers, oh what an entirely exciting door it was! I’m so grateful for the presence of words in my life, for those that honor and love them too, for my teachers who coaxed me into being proud of who I am, and for all of you, my fellow #bookworms. May you soon find the words that are also seeking you 😘.

✨📚caught reading📚✨ ————————————————————————As a #writer, the best gift I can give myself is to gobble up the best of what’s out there every chance I get! Even on short trips (less than 48hrs in gorgeous #asheville 🌻), I try to make time to visit and support my favorite, local bookstores. While there, I fell in love with an incredible collection of powerful tales, #goodnightstoriesforrebelgirls and I cannot wait to share it with my nieces! Where are your must-stop #bookshops and what are your recent #mustreads? 📖✨📖✨ ———————————————————————#kidlit #childrensbookauthor #diversebooks #queerkidsbooks #bookstores #supportsmallbusiness #representationmatters #reading #raisingstronggirls #booksforkids #queerkid #kidswhoread #booksforkids #booknerd #picturebooks #booksforall

This is me, A.M. Wild 😜 Hi! I was a #premiebaby born 6 weeks early. I like to joke that it’s the only thing I’ve been early for in my entire life 😊. As a kid, I was very shy and self-conscious about my differences, and mostly, I preferred to keep my nose buried in a book! In fact, I was more comfortable lost in the pages than almost anywhere else. As I acquired language, I found that I was able to express myself best through the written word; a skill that has served me throughout my life. As a #queer #androgynous non-binary person, stories (both my own and the brave tales of others) have played a vital role in helping me find a place for myself and for others like me. My literary style, like my method for life, is to approach every challenge I come across as an opportunity to grow and develop. By adapting my style, I can learn without losing my artistic voice! I look to the world around me for fresh inspiration, and each project I work on is a unique reflection of the world as I see it and as I #dream it could be. I invite you to peruse my series and stand alone titles, by checking out my website, link in bio. I’ll keep posting about myself and share snippets of projects I’m working on! Oh, and thanks for reading 📖 🌻!
