POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

🎬 Every Odyssey begins with people.

Looking back at our opening night last month, we are reminded that a film festival is never simply about what happens on screen.

It is about the filmmakers who share their stories, the audiences who bring their memories, and the unexpected encounters that happen when people come together. This is our special offering, if you have been with us, you'd know.

Our opening film, Because of You Ka Kui UK Premiere, was a particularly meaningful way to begin this year's journey, reminding us how music and cinema can connect generations, cultures and communities.

Thank you for being part of our Odyssey this year 💙

The festival screenings and industry events may have ended, but the journey continues.

Odyssey 2026 Opening 🎞

After our opening screening of Because of You Ka Kui, Asma Waheed hosted the post-screening Q&As session with director Rosa Pang and William Tang, one of the original founding members of Beyond.

It was our honour to welcome them to be part of Odyssey 2026 and share the stage.

We learnt about the making of this unique Hong Kong documentary, as well as how the appreciation of rock music is often beyond cultural boundaries, from the UK to Hong Kong, then back to London.

Rock music is a #fashion, but also an attitude. Led by Ka Kui, Beyond inspired generations of individuals.

We are very proud of Asma, this is her 2nd Odyssey, hopefully many more to come.

Special Report Published!

"Indian Cinema between the UK and China"

Written by Asma Waheed @awmskn
Supervised by Dr Hiu Man Chan @h_onfilm

Since our inception in 2020, we have been publishing several specialised reports that capture our mission in building a platform to experiment grassroot international film diplomacy. Today, we are proud to published a new report on the topic of “Indian Cinema between the UK and China”, which explores possibilities in multilateral collaboration.

It looks into the growing influence of South Asian cinema as a bridge between cultures, examining how Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi films are reshaping audience engagement and opportunities for international collaboration.

As part of our ongoing sepcialised special report series, it offers practical insights for filmmakers, distributors and cultural organisations seeking to build stronger connections across Asia and the UK.

Thank you to @centrecultureldechine for having us at @ukchinafilm last Friday, and thank you to @h_onfilm for your insightful comments on the future of East-West film collaboration 🙏

“China’s young and active movie-going population is driving the transformation of the film market and distribution mechanisms. Audiences are gradually becoming aesthetically fatigued with the singular Hollywood narrative and are looking forward to innovative cultural experiences. Young filmmakers can actively explore international co-productions and collaborations, viewing film as a platform for cross-border practice and a space for intellectual exploration, constantly seeking common ground amid differences.”

Last year’s Race Across the World @raceacrosstheworld saw five pairs travel on an extraordinary journey from the Great Wall of China down into India. Among them, one pair in particular stood out: formerly married Yin and Gaz, whose poignant story of enduring friendship and support captured audience hearts.

Yin joined Asma for a candid conversation about growing up as a British-born Chinese person, reconnecting with cultural identity, and forging one’s own ideas of belonging.

It was great to attend the opening of Odyssey #Film #Festival, celebrating cinematic excellence & exchange across multiple international regions. I'd never have seen the award-winning Four Trails otherwise. It's still on in London now with an extensive programme, read my article and go check it out!

Hi Arthur! 👋

Having a selfie with director Arthur Jones (THE SIX) has now become our little tradition. We caught him in Shanghai before, and now we caught him in London, while he is in the country.

Arthur is a good friend of ours, and we are also the biggest fan of his.

Policy Researcher Asma @awmskn did an interview with Arthur this afternoon, coming very soon!

Watch this space.

Mood because ‘Anointed’ is OUT right now !! So grateful for your guys’ patience but from these next few months we’re coming with the bangers so just be watching 🤫

Massive thank you to @adeika.vibes for producing this one !! 🧡 Thank YOU guys for always backing us and most importantly thank You Jesus for allowing us to use the gift of music to praise Your name.

Of course today is Good Friday and we’d encourage everyone to take even just a few moments to reflect on the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us all. A price which none of us could pay and He did it so we would even have a chance to go to heaven nah thank You Jesus, eternally.

The best part about Good Friday is that we know the pain He felt on the cross and the pain felt by those who mourned Him was only ever temporary. Death could not hold Him !! And by that same power we can access victory in every single battle we face.

“Storms may come, but like the Son, you’ll always rise.” 🕊

Stream ‘Anointed’ today and be blessed !! Link in our bio 🧡🤎
