New hobby unlocked ➡️ Ultra Running!

Competed in my first ever last-man-standing style ultra race this past weekend and had an absolute blast. Goal was 50 miles… managed to cruise out a 60 mile total. Not bad for running a marathon 6 days prior! Found out that I can jog at 10:30-10:40/mile pretty much indefinitely as long as I have snacks and drinks. Fueled by @bpnsupps in both mind and spirit 🤙

Proved myself right and then some during this one. Learned that boundaries are completely mental, and it’s fascinating to tear them down. The pursuit of the impossible has become a reality and I am so honored to have a crew around me that feels the same. Let’s #goonemore and keep this up 👊

Had a phenomenal tribe running with me and the absolute lad that is @_aidanaronin prepping delicious Tylenol and Body Armor cocktails for me. For those following from home, thank you for your love and support of the crazy things I love to do 🫶 The #roaddownunder continues!!

Go. One. More.

3:42:08. The screws started coming loose at mile 11. At mile 15 while I was dry heaving on the course a nice woman screamed encouragement at me from the sideline. By mile 19 when I saw my family (thank god for them, and yes, Brittany Brown is family) I had talked myself in and out of DNF’ing 5 times. At mile 21, I tried to DNF but couldn’t find the medical tent, so I decided the only way out was through. I love running marathons. I love that it requires every fiber of your soul and your body, and when you think you’ve given everything you have, it asks you to give even more. I’ve never put more pressure on myself than I did for this race. To go from 5:17 at NYC last year, to attempting a 3:24 today, is borderline unfathomable according to my coach. And yet this morning, standing at the start line in the perfect 38 degree air, it seemed like exactly what I could do - the unfathomable. So when the gun went off, I told myself to be brave, and meet the pain like an old friend. And for a while, it worked. And then my body started throwing big curveballs. I couldn’t get my fuel down. Drinking my electrolytes made me gag. And as I watched my goal time slip away faster and faster, my brain became an insidious companion. It was an up and down race, literally and figuratively (the hills chewed me up and spit me out). But I came away with a 16 minute PR. I was 85th of 1080 women finishers. I am still so filled with gratitude for what my Nuss bars have allowed me to do with my body. To actually have athletic talent is still so novel to me. How can I be disappointed? And yet there it is, just below the surface, a minor heart ache. So for now I will rest, recharge, and then I’ll start again. Because I love this sport, even when it takes more than I have to give. Thank you so much to my coaches, my friends, and my family. It truly takes a village to get to the starting line. #marathon #runner #runningmotivation #bostonmarathon

From 5:17:35 November 2022 at NYC to 3:57:45 today at @missoulamarathon. Over an 80 minute personal record. I have worked SO HARD the last 7 months on my quest to qualify for Boston before my bars come out next year. I can taste it now, and I want it more than ever. No way could I have done this without Brad Johnson from @axescoaching, @drstclairdpt, @dr.jaroszewski_pectus, and @featherstonenutrition ✨I am so deeply, deeply blessed. 🫁🫀🙏🦄. #marathonrunner #marathontraining #runningmotivation #runnersofinstagram #runnersworld #fitnessmotivation #runninginspiration #nikerunning #garminrunning #strava @never.second @runjanji
