🌧️ New York City, you showed up rain or shine for Palestine refugees! 🩵

On Sunday, October 11, UNRWA USA brought our signature #Gaza5K back to New York City for its 11th anniversary!

Despite the cold and pouring rain, nearly 5,000 people came together in Brooklyn, raising more than $1.1 MILLION to support mental health services for children in Gaza through UNRWA.

Because the NYC Gaza 5K is about more than crossing a finish line. Every step makes a difference. Together, we’re helping support UNRWA counselors on the ground in Gaza, who continue providing critical mental health and psychosocial support to children experiencing unimaginable loss, displacement, and trauma.

And in Brooklyn, the morning was filled with love, energy, music, and community! 🩵

Some unforgettable highlights:
💬 Powerful words from Linda Sarsour (@lsarsour) and Rabbi Ellen from @rabbis4ceasefire
🎶 DJ Fatin (@djfatin )bringing the beats for the 7th year!
🎤 Live music from our friends, the Brooklyn Nomads (@thebrooklynnomads)
🌺 Palestinian poppy medals honoring our first 3,800 finishers
🕺 An unforgettable community dabke to end the day

🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️ A huge shoutout to our top runners, fundraisers, and leading fundraising teams!

🥇 Team hi guys — $94K raised
🥈 @dsarunningclub — $38K raised
🥉 @cunyfsjp1 — $18K raised

To every participant, volunteer, fundraiser, sponsor, performer, and supporter who made this day possible: THANK YOU! 🩵

Together, you showed that even in the pouring rain, our community will continue showing up for Palestine refugees.

📸 Relive the day! Visit the link in our bio to explore photo highlights and the full NYC Gaza 5K album.

Let’s talk wedding food!!
Food has always been one of my favorite ways to say I love you. 🥹❤️

To feed someone. To pass a plate around the table. To make too much because you never know who might show up. To gather, laugh, share stories, and make sure nobody leaves hungry. THAT is community to me.

As we prepare for our November wedding, happening around Thanksgiving, I’ve been thinking about what it means to gather with intention.

Thanksgiving is often framed around gratitude, family, and togetherness. But how do we honor those values while acknowledging the colonial violence and erasure embedded in its history? How do we gather in ways that honor Indigenous peoples, resist colonial narratives, and reflect the world we want to build?

For us, that intention extends to our wedding table. 🇵🇸❤️

We’ve chosen a Palestinian restaurant @ayat.nyc to cater our wedding because we want our celebration to reflect the values we hope to carry into our marriage: celebrating Palestinian culture, supporting Palestinian businesses, and honoring the generosity that makes sharing a meal so meaningful.

This Reel is also a love letter to the places where we’ve gathered, shared meals, made memories, and built community. These restaurants are part of our story, and we’re excited to share them with you!

Love isn’t just what we say in our vows. It’s how we show up, where we put our money, whose stories we uplift, and how we make room at the table.

A wedding is one day, but the community we build around it is something we carry long after the last plate is cleared. ❤️

🇵🇸 Come for the food, stay for the community. Save this Reel, show these restaurants some love, and support Palestinian-owned businesses.
