🎻 Meet KASA Quartet & Dawning Vajdi! • CMC Side by Side Guest Artists, Fall 2026

KASA Quartet, First Prize winner of the 2017 Coltman Chamber Music Competition, is an award-winning ensemble known for bringing together classical music with jazz, musical theater, folk, and pop. Founded in 2016, the quartet creates fresh, genre-defying performances that include original arrangements and transcriptions alongside classical repertoire. KASA has performed and taught at the Ravinia Festival, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Austin Chamber Music Center, Caroga Lake Music Festival, and more.
KASA also has a special connection to CMC, with three of its members (Aaron Schwartz, Stephanie Price, and Kyle Price) being CMC alumni. For Stephanie and Kyle, this residency is a return to the program where their own chamber music journeys began.

Dawning (Welliver) Vajdi is a violinist, chamber musician, educator, and CMC alumna. During her time at CMC, Dawning performed with Quatuor Alliance, earning recognition at national chamber music competitions including Fischoff, Saint Paul String Quartet, and Discover National Chamber Music competitions. Today, she performs with the award-winning Sileo Quartet and enjoys bringing rarely heard and underrepresented music to new audiences.

We are so excited to have KASA Quartet and Dawning back to CMC for our Side by Side Residency this week, where they’ll rehearse and perform alongside the next generation of CMC musicians!

A huge hats off to The Sentimental Gentlemen for an absolutely fabulous performance at Sherman's! 🎻

There was something especially meaningful about looking out across the Dance Hall and seeing a full house of tapping feet and smiling faces. It was a special reminder of the countless evenings that made Sherman's such a special place many years ago - and proof that those memories aren't just part of its history... Sherman's is once again doing what it has always done best: bringing our community together through music. 🫶

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a memorable evening. Here's to creating new memories together - we'll see you at the next show! 🎶

Looking back!: A Syncopated Life: A Tale of Leroy ✨

As part of our Fourth of July Residency, audiences were treated to an unforgettable evening of music, theater, and laughter with A Syncopated Life: A Tale of Leroy.

Conceived and written by Kyle Barrett Price, this original production celebrated the timeless music of legendary American composer Leroy Anderson through a delightfully imaginative story filled with humor, heart, and impeccable timing. @moffatpics led the outstanding cast as Schmidt alongside @carolinekingsley as Lilian, with memorable performances by Brian Shank, Dennis John Clark, Bailey Harrer, and Maya Brown. 🎩

Performed alongside the Caroga Arts Ensemble and members of Utica Dance, the production seamlessly wove Anderson's beloved orchestral works into a charming, fully narrated tale. Without spoken dialogue, the cast relied entirely on expressive movement, physical comedy, and theatrical storytelling - creating a performance that had audiences laughing from beginning to end. 🎭

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this one-of-a-kind evening. It was a joyful celebration of music and creativity that happens when exceptional artists come together on stage. 🫶

We can't wait to share more unforgettable performances with you this season. 🎶. Photo Credit: @jacob.s.thomp
