Saturday may 31st, the West African Health Foundation is organizing our 2nd annual 10k Charity walk “A Walk For Sight” over the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. On Behalf of @w.a.h.f and myself, we want to thank all who participated physically and spiritually to making our first 10k charity walk “A walk for sight” so successful. We braved the heat, for such an awesome cause, and definitely had a great time spreading good in the process.

Saturday June 22nd, the West African Health Foundation (WAHF) held its first ever charity walk to raise awareness for eye health and blindness in Ghana. We received over $15,000 in donations from over 75 people. These donations will assist, in the completion of a state of the art, Eye institute in Juaben, Ghana.

On one of the hottest days of the summer, participants and WAHF members met at the north lawn in Cadman Plaza, located right under the Brooklyn Bridge. WAHF provided our walkers, with complimentary snacks, water, sun block, sun visors, t-shirts, smiles and hugs as they were greeted and registered for the event. Our chairperson Dr. Prudence Osei-Tutu and treasurer Dr. Kwadwo Boakye, orated, a brief, but passionate address about WAHF’s mission. Vice chairperson, Dr. Cynthia Boakye, and WAHF secretary Dr. Benard Osei-Tutu, also welcomed participants to the event. WAHF member, Kwaku Osei-Tutu, led a group of close to 50 people, on a 5 mile walk. The group walked from Cadman Plaza, to Brooklyn Bridge park, then traversed Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan before heading back over the bridge to our starting point in Cadman Plaza. Walkers braved the heat, to witness breathtaking views in the park, and from the bridge, itself. The event concluded with a light stretch session lead by our walk leader.
