ANNOUNCING the Meta4 Houston 2026 poetry slam team! Meet Raymond, Dash, Nyla, Maraam, German, and our Final 12 champion, Symphony!

The Final 12, held on April 9th, was a night full of love, dancing, and everything a poetry slam should be. Thank you to Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, for hosting such an incredible evening at the Lynn Wyatt Theatre.

A special thank you to Meta4 Houston alum Aston Travis for being an amazing host, and to DJ Yung Chris for providing a phenomenal set that kept the energy high all night.

Congratulations to the 2026 Meta4 Slam Team Members and Fellows, and a very special congratulations to all of the finalists!

I’ve been fighting for my life for months.

February I was down severely with the flu for weeks. March I got sick again. Then when my sickness finally started to go away, I got my heart absolutely shattered on this day a month ago; same day as my 🔥 feature.

Every single day since has been a fight for my life. Sometimes I can’t even take it one day at a time, so I take this a single moment at a time.

April is starting to look like I’m winning the fight. If you see me in person, I need a hug. Thank you for everyone who has helped hold me up when I was falling apart. I love y’all!!!! Healing isn’t linear and I look forward to seeing how God makes this all fall together. Thank you God! Happy Good Friday ✝️ Ase.

I ventured out in spite of fear & gained new connections & solidified old ones.

I git the revelation that life really is a journey with stops along the way but NEVER a destination.

I am blessed & 2023 WILL BE my greatest & most successful year yet.

The 10x10 art show at @hardyandnancestudios was the BEST time. What a fantastic group of artists & friends to show with 🥰🎨. The hermit peeked her head out for a bit 😅. Thank you everyone that came out to support local artists!

🎉 So grateful to celebrate Meta'4's Brave New Voices win with a heartfelt gathering at POST Houston! Our MetaForward event was all about our incredible community championing the power of young voices. Long Chu kicked things off by reflecting on Meta4's 20-year journey, followed by a powerful panel led by Sunny Riddle, where the Meta4 team shared their wisdom on poetry and writing that fueled their success. The evening wrapped up with an unforgettable performance from our talented poets, leaving everyone inspired and energized.

Thanks to our amazing supporters, we’ve received 24 generous donations, raising almost $5,400 so far! These funds will directly benefit Meta4 Houston’s acclaimed program, empowering young poets in our community. 🌟❤️
