“Hey, I’m Amy and I’ve just joined the team at Open Road.
I’ve been tattooing for just over 5 years and for almost two of these I’ve been in New Zealand. Living in Wellington is like a dream - everyone says thank you to the bus driver, genuinely asks how your day is going, and I still don’t really understand what ‘chur’ means, but it feels like home here already.

I started tattooing when I was living in Amsterdam. I did my apprenticeship in a fine line studio and that became what I love tattooing: fine, delicate and detailed things. I started because of my love for drawing- ever since I could scribble in my school books, it’s been my happy place.

I think tattooing is about connection, needle to skin and artist to client, one of the best things about it is getting to meet people from all walks of life.”
