ONE MONTH TO OPENING NIGHT. In exactly one month, KIDS arrives in Johannesburg, Basel & Lugano. On 2 October 2026, a group of young people drifts through Johannesburg at night, moving through a city shaped by economic uncertainty, fractured futures, desire, friendship and the question of what it means to grow up now. KIDS is a new live-cinema work by Boris Nikitin and Tšeliso Monaheng, created across borders and presented simultaneously in Johannesburg, Basel and Lugano from 2–4 October 2026. Born in the early 2000s, this generation has inherited a world marked by crises they did not create. They navigate the city, each other and themselves while trying to imagine what kind of future remains possible. Part film. Part live performance. Part concert. Part encounter. KIDS asks us to look closely at a generation coming of age in a world that is already changing beneath their feet. The countdown begins now. 📍 The Market Theater Laboratory 📍Kaserne Basel 📍Festival Internazionale del Teatro di Lugano 📅 Opening Night: 2 October 2026 🎭 2–4 October 2026 "Are you coming with us?" - KIDS #KIDS #KIDS2026 #LiveCinema #Johannesburg #SouthAfricanTheatre #ContemporaryPerformance #LivePerformance #BorisNikitin #TšelisoMonaheng #JohannesburgArts #ArtsAndCulture #TheatreJohannesburg #onemonthtogo

When art meets critical media literacy, powerful stories are born. 🚀   2026 Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans winner, Mongezi Ntukwana shares what it’s like to be part of Truth Lab - a multidisciplinary Southern African programme helping young creatives decode media and redefine narratives.   Managed by IFAS & Goethe-Institut and supported by the Franco-German Cultural Fund. #frenchinstitutesa

📣NOW ONLINE: SO | FROM SCRIPT TO STAGE 📣 🎭SO | From Script to Stage is a programme of three newly incubated works of theatre that emerge directly from the interrelated series of mentorship programmes curated by Momenteur for the SO Academy, Athena Mazarakis. “In these plays, we see writers dealing with key concerns in South Africa today, telling stories about migration, capitalism, and disconnection in the digital age,” says Mazarakis. We use the concept of a “masterclass” loosely but believe me when I say that “Yang’thola” is a justified multi-ward winning body of work. Written by the sharp Mongezi Ntukwana ( @mongezii23 ) & performed by @alex.sono - you witness how words become flesh in one of the most embodied performances to have come out of 2025. Alex! 🏆 Catch “Yang’thola” at the @sastatetheatre , currently running until the 16th of February 2026. #Theatre #Art #StateTheatre #SouthAfricanArt #SouthAfricanTheatre
