Straight arm cable pull downs with @core_muscle_activation

Once again Eric sharing some of his infinite wisdom with me, we spent a fair bit of time working through these and I can’t wait to show my clients new ways to hit the serrates muscle.

Straight Arm Cable Pulldown for Serrates

This one is all about getting the shoulder blade moving properly around the rib cage.

Keep the arms mostly straight with a soft bend in the elbows.

Hip hinge , get long and drive the legs and heels forward through the floor.

Reach long at the top and let the shoulder blades move.

As you pull down, think about wrapping the shoulder blades around the rib cage instead of just pulling with your lats.

Keep the ribs down and core tight.

Control the movement and actually feel the serratus doing the work.

Please enjoy watching me suffer through this set. :)

Look at my legs shaking. And that face I’m making, you know I’m at work.

That’s the signal. When your body is in the right position and you’re actually driving the right movement, the shake shows up. That’s the sign you’re working, not just going through the motions.

Eric @core_muscle_activation took me through some brutal core work here, and the details are everything. You position the body, push hard against the handles, and pre-crunch the abs before you even start the leg lifts. That pre-crunch is the key. It loads the abs under tension first, so every leg lift is fighting from a dead-set position instead of swinging on momentum.

Then the tweak that lit me up: one leg slightly higher than the other. Here’s why it works. Your core isn’t one flat sheet. Your abs are built to work left and right together AND independently. So the second you offset the body and make one side account for something different than the other, you change the whole stimulus. Same movement, completely different fight.

Give it a shot and watch your legs shake like mine.

Develop your core.
