The ArtWalk is a labour of love on my part, I do it for the Love of the Arts, for the love of the family of Artists that have come together over the years to do ArtWalks with me. I do it for Stony Plain, one of the most Art filled towns in Alberta. Everywhere you look there are murals!
I do it to encourage a love of the Arts in the youth at the Stony Plain Youth Centre, that is why they are the recipients of the proceeds of the ArtWalk. Last year we were able to donate $400 to the Centre. That donation supported a three-part series of sketching workshops for youth, the instructor was Brie Adkins, one of the Artists who participated in last year's ArtWalk.

Stony Plain Youth Centre Staff, and the SPYT (Stony Plain Youth EVENTS Team): The Gallery Lady, ALL the Artists and the patrons of the ArtWalk want to “Thank-You” all of you, for your willingness to have your concession open for our event., and for providing a place for folks to sit and enjoy their lunch. Your energy was contagious and the food was delecious! We are all proud to be able to support the Arts Programme at the Centre.

The K-Days Artist Residency has ended and it was a wild ride from start to finish! Big thanks to the team that helped us share our work with thousands of folks! We got to see people play and engaged with the artwork and visit family and friends throughout the festival! Personally, I got to push my work into new territories with the ingenuity of Michel and really appreciate the learning experience! From napkin doodles that make no sense, to the final outcome, I had a great time. Thanks to those who came to see the work and those who offered encouragement along the way!
I look forward to reviewing submissions in October for the next AIR and sharing our experience with them!

Thank you @ashleyhansenart for the pics!
Thank you @kdaysyeg for the opportunity!
Thank you @eckzstudioz for all the work and brainpower poured into this!

✨ A unique and dynamic collaboration finds its way to KDays Artist in Residence this year! The minds of artists, Brie Adkins and Michel Côté come together to create a menagerie of interactive art installations in Klondike Park.

This duo has over a decade of creating art, murals, installations and general wonder wherever they have worked. They will now combine skills to bring forward a Neotrad Carnival within the park that is visually captivating and entertainingly interactive.

Artist and muralist, Brie Adkins has painted her whole small town, Entwistle, and is excited to share bold, surreal and mystical designs with Edmonton. She partners with creative imagineer, Michel, who has made art robots, rocket ships and many other creative installations that pop up around the city. The two joined forces after Michel’s most recent eckzhibition, Ghost Toast, which highlighted Michel’s coined idiom, ‘Once you’re toast you can never be bread again.”

Both artists are fueled by the process of the art making and how it interacts with the world around them. They aim to instill wonder, whimsy and FUN into Klondike Park this year with hands on art installations and a bit of humour. We will be visiting their studios soon, but if you want to learn more lore about these underground artists, follow them at @b.adkinsart & @eckzstudioz ! ✨
