Editor’s Note:

I’m 45, heading toward 46, and I’ve learned something unexpected:

Most of us don’t have a foolproof plan.

I’m making it up as I go. Building the infrastructure while wobbling across it. Hoping my best intentions are enough to get me to the next chapter.

Somehow, through all the uncertainty, I’m gigging again, writing tales and tunes almost every day. I’ve found myself with a wonderful wife, an incredible son, good friends, meaningful work, and a growing collection of stories worth telling. @libfestival was a very special experience this year through all the dust. Figured I’d share some beautiful photos of it. Most taken by @helloatlasmedia, some by @brybit @camilledoan @mikeylion @cookieleonx

Lately, I’ve been working on a new rhyme book. It’s part poetry, part reflection, and part reminder that life isn’t something we figure out once, it’s something we keep discovering.

The older I get, the less interested I am in having all the answers and the more grateful I am for the questions.

Some of you know parts of this already, here’s the full story.

DJ Fresh One was my touring alias for years. Then I started secretly releasing house music as Freshcobar on the side. People found out it was me, and that’s when I slowed down the DJ Fresh One touring schedule and let Freshcobar take over the dance floor stuff.

Figured Fresh One was done. Retired the name.

Then sync happened.

Turns out an old alias with a clean catalog history is exactly what production music libraries want. Brought it back, different mission entirely. This world of production music is fun. It’s challenging to make a variety of genres at a high level, but that’s what keeps it interesting.

14 months later: 200+ tracks signed across Lift Music, Catapult Music, Klanglobby, BMG Production Music, APL Music, Boost Music, and Epitome Music and released independently.

And that’s separate from my Freshcobar / NOS Recordings catalog from the club years, 75+ more tracks living in their own world since 2016.
