It is through the generosity and compassion of people like you that we can continue this vital work.

The worst drought in 40 years has ravaged East Africa, causing widespread hunger. You can learn more by clicking on the link in my bio and how Baal Dan can help.

Nearly a month ago, my friend Tanya sent a BBC article to me about an 11-year old boy fighting to save his family in Somalia from starvation. It was the impetus to start this campaign to raise funds for Somalia and Ethiopia, parts of the world in which she spent time in for humanitarian projects.

With local contacts and partners on the ground who expressed that every penny would help, various groups and donors have generously pledged help after this initiative was launched this week and we are now past the halfway mark of the goal of $30k of various aid for 350 children.

And if you find it so to support, please know anything you give will go a long way this holiday season for so many in that part of the world.

At the very least, I hope this video we created raises awareness of this crisis. Please feel free to share the link in bio and thank you so much in advance!

My good friend, Tanya Pinto, founded Baal Dan @baaldan (a 501c3) in 2005 after serving at Mother Teresa’s orphanage. Since then it has raised nearly $2M to help over 12,000 vulnerable children in 12 countries.

September 22nd is North Texas Giving Day @ntxgivingday (link in bio) where every dollar is matched and your donation is doubled. The good news is you can donate now!

Over $130k was raised recently to aid Ukrainian orphans through MREF (Marketing Research Education Foundation) because of their trust in Baal Dan. I assisted Tanya on this and have been helping for the past 15 years, now serving on the Advisory Board.

It is a great organization, run on the generosity of volunteers, and keeps operating costs as low as possible. Tanya also screens vigorously when choosing grantees (she even check the kid’s fingernails for malnutrition, hygiene etc).

So please give knowing your money will be thoughtfully used to help so many kids. No amount is too small. You can learn more at @baaldan or baaldan.com and please give them a follow. Feel free to share this reel as well.

Donation link in my bio and many thanks in advance!

We are excited to have our children & young adults back in full strength at the Samerth Talim Kendra after a summer break. Currently we work with 100 children & young adults with intellectual and multiple disabilities. Some of them have been with us for the last 15 years and grown up in front of us. The energy and warmth they exude and bring to our lives makes our need to ensure we reach out to and offer services to as many children as possible.
