Brothers, sisters, siblings, cousins, my Asian American family. Can we call each other in to join our voices for a free Palestine?

Right now, we have the staggering opportunity and responsibility as US tax payers to pressure congress for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

We must mourn the dead, the all too many, many dead; not just from the past two weeks but the past 75 years. And we must call — and march, and rally, and teach-in, and sit-in and have difficult, critical conversations — like HELL for the living.

Beyond immediate ceasefire — the very minimum of what we need now — as people of conscience we must call for an end to the state of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land, to that government’s systems of apartheid, and to OUR government’s continued military transfer of $3.8 billion a year that aids and abets unfathomable harm, sorrow and genocide. Our US government that refuses us universal healthcare, or basic income, or student loan forgiveness.

For those interested, I am down to talk like the day is long about how US and Western imperialism has affected all of us children of the diasporas, all of us who are ā€œhereā€ because they were ā€œthereā€ — how we are all bound up together, in struggle and in the sheer, astonishing possibility of collective liberation. Our relatives and ancestors have a history of being in collective struggle together! I say this not to center, but to say we can step up and speak out and act now — once again.

And also too: None of us need to be experts to do the conscionable thing. With care, I’m calling us in — please join me.

SWIPE: A favorite photo of movement godmothers Grace Lee Boggs and Yuri Kochiyama. Swipe for a couple clips from a 2021 teach-in, ā€œPALESTINE IS GETTING FREE,ā€ co-organized by @FIG_NYC_ with Palestinian, Black, Indigenous, Jewish, Boricua and Asian (that’s me) comrades. This will be on FIG-NYC.org/study-group (link in bio) as a resource for folx looking to draw further connections between our communities and movements.

Plus a few favorite images from Palestine Poster Project Archives. Because we need solidarity and beauty, too.

Thank you to my sister @charlenekaye for editing these clips ā¤ļø
