Dusty and tired but leaving @fireinthemountains with the fullest of hearts✨ Much gratitude to the beautiful people of the Blackfeet Nation for welcoming us with open arms to their land, the @firekeeperalliance for all of the amazing work they are doing to support their local community and beyond, and the amazing people I met in the process who worked day and night to pull off such a life changing festival.

2 years ago this September, i bought a sailboat i had no business or money buying.

i had just gotten done commercial fishing in Alaska. i used the money i made to pay off debt and came home with $1,000 to my name. i saw a facebook marketplace ad for a Catalina c-30, so i messaged the guy and told him i didn’t have the money now, and maybe i could have it by the new year, but i was curious to check out the boat anyway.

he invited me over for coffee, and we instantly connected. he said, “i want this boat going to a good home. you’re gonna be a good home. how much can you pay per month?”

needless to say, @jakyl_en_vol said he would write up a contract and sell me the boat on an interest-free payment plan, to a woman that knew damn near nothing about boats, other than they have always called my name, which is apparently enough knowledge to jump off the deep end.

it took me 8 months to pay it off, 2-3 jobs, 6 days a week.

side note: jake is one of the most authentic and beautiful human beings i’ve had the privilege of knowing. i wouldn’t be where i am without his trust in my spirit. eternally grateful for him and to God for bringing us together.

moreover, this boat wouldn’t be in the shape it’s in without my brave and beautiful best friend @babritknee moving from Nashville to Portland to get this project off the water. it was/ is a dream of hers to also sail.

now it’s our home, our passion project, and where @sailorparkgirls was born.

this next year, year three, we will be getting our feet in the water and sailing this damn thing, so stayed tuned.
