Dust deposits from the city and its periphery are clearly visible on the "outer skin" of its buildings. They consist of materials from human activity, such as tyre wear, as well as organic materials, like fungal spores and human skin cells. The city and its inhabitants are inextricably linked: we become part of the city as we shed our skins, and in return, we breathe its air, and the city becomes part of us.

Thanks for the invite @anaisnio !

Over the past weeks—and months—I’ve been busy co-initiating backyard society (@back.yardsociety) together with Martina Lussi (@martina_lussi).

A decentralized, nomadic art space that connects artistic, sonic, and social practices in ever-changing spaces. With a focus on community, experimentation, and exchange, it creates room for connection and collaboration. Exhibitions, performances, and encounters unfold in diverse settings.

We’ve been planning, organizing, staging, curating, caring, and hosting our first show:

She Takes the Space—She Holds the Room, which opened on June 5.

This FLINTA* exhibition features works by Sara Gassmann, Laura Mietrup, Katrin Niedermeier, Sarina Scheidegger, Gloria Tomasini, Samantha Zaugg und Selina Zürrer and held performances by Samantha Zaugg, Agnes Leclaire & Ligia Tarcea and Sarina Scheidegger.

We activated our first location—a house in Arlesheim (BL).

We are thankful for all the help and the support we got along the way.

I’m happy to share a few impressions from this beautiful opening, which truly warmed my heart and made it all worthwhile.

backyard society is a mobile art space project by Martina Lussi and Anaïs Strübin that combines artistic, sonic, and social practices. Exhibitions, performances, and encounters take place in changing spaces - with a focus on community, experimentation, and networking. A place for exchange, togetherness, and new connections. @back.yardsociety @martina_lussi @anaisnio
