This photo is a glimpse into the Boundary Waters of Northern Minnesota. One of 7 light sanctuaries left on Earth. Here, thousands of lake systems connect by portages short enough to carry canoes between. They lead into vast wilderness.

This place requires trust in it. A reliance that isn't felt in our pampered lives. Distraction in western culture is rewarded in dollars and advertising. Distraction here, leads to chaos. If distracted you'll not see the oncoming dark clouds, the clouds that create a change in winds that drops out a front. On the wrong side of the lake, those flat waters become 3 foot waves, enough to flip a canoe. The wrong judgement due to lack of presence can lead to a life lesson.

These waters crave our attention, they ask that we are fully there. Our presence is our greatest asset. To be present with my heart rate, knowing too fast of a paddle stroke will burn up valuable energy, or an create unsustainable speed, needing to shed layers and cause for rest. Too slow, and cold creeps into the body, making reactions and decisions lagged and putting me at risk to not being able to warm back up. The right speed, breath and heart rate is the flow.

Now, this land is inviting you into it. Passage is a concept, not an experience. Its a way of relating to ourselves in the wildest of places. It's our thought that only deep nature can bring these revelations to truly see oneself. Truly be oneself. This is what life is, we just need an opportunity to remember it.
