You’d think learning to fight would be learning how to overcome your opponent. I find it more so learning how to overcome yourself. First day back and it’s been far too long. All the homies have belted up time for me to lock in.🥋

Sunday mornings on the mat hit different. 🥋✨
Started at 9 AM sharpening our closed guard control and submissions taught by @lynntran.realtor , then rolled right into 2 hours of open mat hosted by @eastbaywomensopenmat ! Love seeing everyone put in the work, test new details, and support each other every step of the way.

From Day 1 on the mats to decades of experience, today’s class was all about the fundamentals 🥋✨
We broke down one of Jiu-Jitsu’s most crucial positions: the Closed Guard. Half the room worked on maintaining posture, breaking alignment, and keeping total control—while the other half focused on posting up, creating angles, and breaking out.
That’s the beauty of this space: no matter where you are on your journey, there’s always something new to unlock on the mats. 🤍

Who says moms can’t break down leg locks? 🔥
From school drop-offs to heel hooks. We stepped onto the mat to build confidence and learn self-defense, but the resilience and bond we’ve built in the process is unmatched.
Find a training partner who keeps you safe, pushes your limits, and rides the journey with you. ⚔️🥋

Thinking about stepping onto the mats for your very first Jiu-Jitsu class? 🥋✨ We’ve got you!
Starting something new can feel intimidating, but taking care of the basics helps everyone feel comfortable, safe, and ready to train. Here is your ultimate First Class Etiquette Checklist 💖👇
1️⃣ Trim those nails & wash up: Keep finger and toe nails trimmed short so you don’t accidentally scratch your training partners! Give your hands a good wash before practice 💅
2️⃣ Stay fresh: Hygiene is top priority when we’re training close! A quick shower and fresh scent go a long way 🚿✨
3️⃣ Mints & toothbrushes are your besties: Fresh breath makes partner drills much sweeter for everyone 🪥🌸
4️⃣ Ditch the jewelry: Rings, necklaces, earrings, and watches need to stay in your bag to prevent snagging or injuries 💍❌
5️⃣ Mat rules matter: ALWAYS wear shoes/sandals off the mat (especially in the bathroom!) and NEVER wear shoes on the mat 🚫👟
6️⃣ Wash your gear immediately: Toss your gi, rashguards, and spats straight into the wash after class so they stay fresh for next time 🧺🧼
We can’t wait to welcome you to the mat family! Tag a friend who’s ready to try her first class 💕👇
