Francolin Farm Minute 20 September 2026 Ever the educators and preeminent hosts, @patinameadow welcomed renowned craftsmen and conservationist Matt Somerville (@_beekindhives_) for a natural beekeeping workshop.

We have wanted a couple of Matt’s rocket beehives for a few years now. What an incredible opportunity to get eyes on his creation of these beautiful, sustainable homes for native bees. So good to be among friends learning and being inspired.

These shelves drive me bonkers and I should probably get over it. 🤣 Now don’t get me wrong, they’re beautiful in their own way—but they are definitely not original to the house and crafted a little bit cheap-ly (for lack of better word). Now I sound ungrateful and that is TOTALLY not what it is—maybe I’m just excited to redo this spot someday and make them fit the character of the home just a bit better. Surely we can find a way around having a stud going through them. 🤣

I did style them a bit differently today though and do love that more. 🤎 Love having a bunch of books out for the kids, too!

The non-centered trim at the top is probably my favorite quirk. How interesting. 🤣☺️🤎

Each summer looks a little bit different as our kiddos grow. It’s kind of amazing to be able to bottle up the good old days before they pass us by. ☀️

Hot Summer afternoons are the perfect time to hide inside with a cold glass of lemonade and some special gardening books. Here are a couple of my favorites!

Now’s the time to plan your Fall garden. For me October is the time when I plant Garlic and Sweet Peas. I also remove old plants and replant herbs. If you don’t have a “kitchen garden” get one started this year. I love planning and ordering seeds now so I’m ready to plant when the weather cools off. Cheers ✨

Dinner’s on the garden tonight 🥦

I’ve had a vegetable garden for a few years now, but this year my perspective on it completely changed. Over the winter I read “Kitchen Garden Living” by @baileyvantassel. The nuggets of wisdom in that book completely simplified the way I grow food.

Comment GARDEN and I’ll send my favorite gardening book straight to your dms.
