Welcome to The Beat of Life, Nafisa's Journey. Ali Baldiwala walks us through "Edge," a booth built in four parts: the hustle of a Cairo market, an evening celebration, a quiet confrontation with mortality, and finally, freedom. Every detail, down to a clock with stapled hands, was designed to make you stop and reflect. The inspiration behind it all: his mother.

People don't usually leave a booth changed. This one's different. Visitors walk through "Edge" and come out talking about mortality, memory, and what it means to actually live.

Ali Baldiwala @ali_baldiwala , Lead Design Thinker at @baldiwala_edge , approaches every project through the unique dreams, personality, and aspirations of its client. Since establishing his independent practice in 2008, Ali has developed a design language rooted in bold concepts, material experimentation, original ideas, and a deliberate departure from formulaic trends.

Drawing from his background in interior design and his instinct for drama, Ali brings together textures, materials, and striking visual moments to create spaces that feel distinctly their own. His practice reflects a belief in design that is personal, expressive, and never predictable.

Join us as we welcome Ali to DD Focus 2026 for a conversation on individuality, experimentation, and creating spaces beyond the expected.
