Most beginner riders don’t get into trouble because they can’t ride, they get into trouble because of a few bad habits 👍

Here are 5 mistakes you should stop making today:

1. Pulling the clutch and braking at the same time.
When you hold the clutch while braking, you lose engine braking, which means your brakes have to do all the work. Instead, focus on smooth braking and use the clutch only when needed.

2. Downshifting too quickly in an emergency.
Don’t panic and shift through all the gears at once. Your priority is to brake first, then downshift progressively. This keeps the bike stable and lets engine braking help slow you down.

3. Using only the rear brake.
Your front brake provides around 70% of your stopping power, while the rear brake contributes about 30%. Relying only on the rear brake increases your stopping distance and reduces your ability to avoid hazards. Learn to use both brakes smoothly together.

4. Looking down at the road right in front of your bike.
Your motorcycle goes where you look. Keep your eyes up and look ahead so you have more time to react and maintain better balance.

5. Riding with stiff arms and a tense body.
Relax your shoulders, keep a light grip on the handlebars, and let the motorcycle move naturally. A relaxed rider has better control and reacts faster.

Safe riding isn’t about riding fast, it’s about building the right habits.

Sometimes the hardest part of learning something new isn’t the skill… it’s your mind 😷

We overthink. We panic. We imagine the worst.
But in reality? It’s often much simpler than we thought.

Riding a motorcycle is the same.
Before you control the bike, you need to control your mind. Once you relax, everything starts to flow.

A U-turn may seem simple, but it can become very dangerous if done incorrectly.

One small mistake can put you at risk of being hit by oncoming traffic from the opposite direction.

Here are the key things you need to pay attention to when making a U-turn on Indonesian roads:
1. Before making a U-turn, position yourself on the far right side of the road.
2. Be patient and wait for a safe gap in traffic before turning.
3. After completing the U-turn, stay on the right lane (fast lane) and accelerate smoothly while checking your left mirror. Gradually move back to the left lane (slow lane) when it is safe to do so.

There are many important details involved in performing a safe U-turn. If you’d like to learn properly, feel free to contact our team at @balibikeschool

Disclaimer: Do not attempt U-turns without proper training and supervision if you are a beginner. The video above was conducted under professional guidance and after completing practice sessions in a safe, controlled environment before entering real traffic.
