Thank you @heartlandfilm for having JACKRABBIT at this year’s Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis, IN.

Had a fabulous screening with a packed house and a super fun talkback and Q&A with @juliespleasantland

Great audience at a great fest! And per always, massive thanks to @gsorvig for all his support and stellar programming. Don’t miss out on one of the US’s best fests, and it’s sister fest, #IndyShorts which premiered our last short NIGHT SESSION in 2024.

It was so special to be back in Indy with my first feature! Thank you!

JACKRABBIT wins BEST US FEATURE 🏆as the Opening Night film at the incredible @sohofilmfest last week. A sold out NYC debut. I am proud and grateful.

In the words of the beloved Jane Austen “My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.” I was shaking in my huge platform boots producing and managing this film but alas, it did not stop me from lifting up my chin and giving it my best effort.

Please don’t let yourself be intimidated, by big dreams and small, I’d very much like to see your art. 🔐

Congratulations @ballardcboyd. We learned so much together on this very first narrative feature film of both of ours and I learned so much from watching you direct this.

Congratulations to all my friends who worked on this and gave it all they had. I am so proud of all of you. ⚜️

Thank you @sohofilmfest , Sybil and the Jury!

JACKRABBIT wins BEST US FEATURE at @sohofilmfest !

It was already an incredible honor to have our film open the festival, but to have the film be so well received with an audience and THEN to win the top prize - well, that’s something else.

Thank you to everyone who worked so incredibly hard on this film and in this film. You’re magicians and champions. Thank you to everyone who supported the MANY year journey to bring this super fun, twisty mystery to the screen.

Thank you to the audience that came out to watch it; the jury for this year’s fest; @sibylsantiago and everyone at @sohofilmfest for programming the film and supporting indies.

And thank you the City of New York. We shot this film here and it meant a lot to be able to celebrate how awesome this city and its people are.

Two years ago, we had our short film NIGHT SESSION here at @sohofilmfest where it won Best Short Film. Now to win this when back as an alum with my first feature?

Dang, y’all. That’s pretty special. Thank you.

George #KuhooVerma moved to NYC on the promise of a reporter’s job, only to have it be downsized before she even starts work. Her BFF Trish #SoojeongSon connects her with Avery #TaylorOrtega so she at least has a place to live, even if it is practically a closet.

Avery & George are VERY different. The former treats truth as subjective & the latter believes that spontaneity has a time & a place. But when Trish goes missing, they team up to find out what happened to their friend.

This is not a hard boiled crime story. It’s a fun maybe murder mystery in the vein of Only Murders In The Building. Is Trish’s new BF a drug dealer? Is she somehow involved in embezzlement at her company? Or did she just find out about it & the culprit did something to her?

Each of the women’s strengths comes into play, taking them from backroom deals to Eyes Wide Shut sex parties. About the only sure thing is that every stereotype in this sort of film gets broken.

The mystery is solid & the humor is funny. The chemistry between the leads glows. It’s highly entertaining & my new favorite of the Heartland Film Festival so far.#Jackrabbit #screeningoftheday

🎬 From the script to the screen to the red carpet.

Last week was a special one. Grateful to be part of JACK RABBIT, the opening-night film at the 17th SOHO International Film Festival in New York City! 🎥

There’s something special about seeing a project you’ve worked on come to life and be celebrated on the big screen.

Much love to the cast, crew, and everyone who helped bring this story to life. Proud to be part of it, and excited for what’s next.

More to come. 🎬🔥

So grateful for JACKRABBIT to be the OPENING NIGHT film of @sohofilmfest with a SOLD OUT screening.

Having shot the movie 100% on-location in NYC, it was so special to get to celebrate this film with our NYC cast & crew, many of whom were seeing it for the very first time.

It was an amazing screening and great Q&A with such an awesome crowd on the biggest screen at Regal Union Square.

Thank you so much @sibylsantiago & @sohofilmfest for the incredibly opportunity to share this movie with such a great crowd and for throwing an amazing festival and party for our little indie.

We’re so excited for more folks to see the film soon!

My incredible husband @ballardcboyd is the writer & director of the new feature film @jackrabbitmovie and it had the honor of being the opening night movie at @sohofilmfest this past week!! After seeing the movie dozens of times (and still loving it because @therealkuhoo @taylortega & @sjsonmyson are SO FUN TO WATCH and thanks to cinematographer @evanjakecohen and team it’s GORGEOUS) it was a thrill to get experience it in a movie theater! My favorite part in the theater was the music by @clajmo - already awesome, but the surround sound made me feel it in my whole body!!

And while it was a big night for my husband and he deserves all the praise for his phenomenal creation and YEARS of hard work, it also felt like a big night for me.

Ballard dedicated the film to our youngest daughter and myself because we decided as a family to use part of his paternity leave to allow him to shoot the movie when I was just 3 months postpartum (because here in the United States you have to go the extra mile to ensure the bills are paid while you chase your dreams). And to anyone who has achieved anything with a family you know that achievement is due to the shared and often unrecognized workload by partners and support teams at home. Ballard made my workload visible to the entire audience and as a result, the rest of the night felt like a party for me 🥹

Thank you to everyone who came up to me to chat and honor my part in the birthing of this movie baby!! And thank you to the entire cast and crew for making my husband’s dream come true! You will forever hold a special spot in our hearts.

Yay @jackrabbitmovie 🥳

Earnest post alert- I got to be a lead in a movie. This former ESL speech class kindergarten student practiced with Cheerios on the tongue, then got to act in @jackrabbitmovie directed by energetic gift to humanity @ballardcboyd who seemed to dig my vibe. Correct me if I’m wrong. The movie opened @sohofilmfest to a sold out crowd, it was beautiful. I am appreciating retrospectively bc I was too stimulated to understand what was happening. We can’t take this for hugh granted. Acting is a joy. It’s hard to get job and live to tell the tale when social media wants you to compare, despair, and literally die. I am grateful to play next to @therealkuhoo @taylortega who r so talented, more on this later. And have u seen their facecards royal flush baby. Thanks @bighenryr for his great tshirts and dare I say taste @sashington @clairefarnsworth @maudeymaude my agents for getting me this opportunity and being my supporters this whole time @bridgetkeene13 @kaseymuraszko my managers that I adore and are in the passenger seat cooking with ingredients, helping me navigate this trip to your theaters and hearts. As Mars is in Leo, respectfully I continue my speech. This was inspired by @markgessnerpix ‘s gratitude post who is a great actor. Thanks to my teacher and coach and pal @peterjensen - u might not remember u zoomed w me on this audition - this post might be cringe but it’ll have to do 🧑‍🩰
