FEAST Part 1

It’s never too late to share beautiful moments. A month ago, we held our FEAST at Kehelland Trust and captured some very special footage, including original audio and behind-the-scenes moments—from preparation and harvesting to the final stages before service.

To everyone who attended, thank you so much for being part of it. As promised, we will be back, and new dates will be announced soon.

Part 2 to follow…

She’s so ✨EmOCEANal✨. Happy new moon in Pisces and last day of fish szn. Last night I listened to an audio story by @chaninicholas on the @chani.app that described how the constellation of Pisces came into being in Greek and Roman mythology.

It got me thinking about the ways we must carve space out for self-reflection, contemplation, and day dreaming, while realising that the reason we must do this is as an ethic of care to others, others whom we always remain tethered to. That is to say, it made me think that the Pisces myth provides a model of dis/connection that’s helpful during a time like this: a time when we need to harness our individual, creative potential as a matter of survival at the same time as we must, as a practice of love, “Try and understand […] never look away. And never, never to forget” (Arundhati Roy).

I will flesh this idea out for the grid when I have more spoons/my brain fog is less thick 😪. (Fun fact: I use the Guava app to track my chronic illnesses and last year it deduced that my mascot was Drowsy Dolphin — slide 8. One of my nicknames is Dani Delfina and given that I battle so much with chronic fatigue this deduction is, well, apt 😭😂!)

For now, may you go gently, and may our collective day dreams of a softer, more just world never stop swimming towards a material reality. 🌊🐟🐟🪢♓️💭

The sun generously shone for today's collaborative Beach Art workshop on the Dyfi Estuary 🌞

Together we created a double spiral mandala/labyrinth, from all sorts of debris washed up by river and tide.

The spirals represented the blending of salty sea and sweet river waters,
Also the balance of equal light and dark hours on this Autumnal Equinox day, where the sun rises due east and sets due west

Entering the design from the east, as the river flows, and exiting into the west towards the sea, allowed us to step over a symbolic threshold midway, as we spiralled from light to dark, sweet to salty!

We imagined the journeys of salmon between the upper river and vast open ocean.

So much hidden in these secret waters! 🌀🌙💦

Photos and project concept courtesy ofJess @ballawaves, in collaboration with @kirstidavies

Such a pleasure to work with you both ☺️
