Definition of a grinder.

At the end of Day #1 at the Running of the Bulls Charity Surf Redfish Tournament, Clayton had zero redfish on the board. Then on Day #2, he stuck 3 fish in less than 90 minutes.

This crazy feat secured him 2nd place in the Youth Dividion, $800 in cash and a custom surf combo courtesy of Batson Enterprises, Bandit Custom Rods and Florida Fishing Products.

The 2nd place awards were preserved by Workday.

On top of that, Clayton became the first ever 2x youth Calcutta winner taking home a 13’ Fishbites Signature rod.

Now that’s a weekend!

Competing with Abi is easy and watching her land two Bull Redfish tournament weekend didn’t surprise us.

Abi is the hardest worker, fully committed, extremely knowledgeable and has parents that are all-in on supporting her fishing adventures. From baiting to casting, she does it all.

Let’s celebrate Abi and her 3rd place 36.50” catch which was presented by Foamworks Auto Spa of Brunswick.

On top of her cash prize, we are also very excited that Abi won a Team Rainshadow Revelation surf rod paired with a Resolute 5000 reel. The rod was donated by sponsors Batson Enterprises / Bandit Custom Rods and the reel by Florida Fishing Products.

Congratulations Abi! You earned it and we have you as an early favorite to win the adult division at the 2028 Running of the Bulls Charity Surf Redfish Tournament.

Some people are simply born to catch redfish and that’s Wyatt who became the first ever 3x Champion (2023, 2025 and 2026) of the Kids Can Fish Running of the Bulls Charity Surf Redfish Tournament landing this beastly 39.50” bull.

In addition to his $1400 cash prize by presenting sponsor Fishbites, Wyatt won a custom Team Rainshadow 11’ surf rod courtesy of Batson Enterprises and Bandit Custom Rods plus a Resolute 6000 reel donated by Florida Fishing Products.

This is the essence of what the Kids Can Fish mission is and it’s our honor to play a small part in creating these fishing memories for Wyatt. Congratulations Champ you are the real deal!

🐟 Sponsor Spotlight - Bandit Custom Rods 🐟

Here’s a different look at Brian, the owner of Bandit Custom Rods. Before Kids Can Fish was established, he took Caroline under his wing and taught our family how to fish for the bull reds from a boat.

From a Dad’s perspective, I cannot thank Brian enough for investing his time, energy and resources into my daughter.

The foundation was then created and Brian has supported the charity from top to bottom from day 1.

A favorite tradition of ours is awarding the Top 3 Youth Anglers with a custom surf rod with all build components coming courtesy of Batson Enterprises. You’ll see Brian’s work highlighted again here in 2026.

In addition to his friendship and generosity, it’s difficult to describe Brian in a few words. Brian is meticulous, never cuts corners, can build a rod for any species/applucation and prides his work on battle tested craftsmanship.

Most of all, he’s a great person, a veteran who served our country proudly and is someone we are honored to call a friend.

If you are seeking to build a custom rod or add to your growing collection, we couldn’t suggest a better person.

💥Sponsor Spotlight - Batson Enterprises💥

Sit back for the next two minutes and hear the story of how Batson Enterprised CEO, Bill Batson met Caroline and began supporting the Kids Can Fish Foundation.

Besides being known as the a premiere wholesale supplier of quality rod blanks and components to the fishing rod industry. Mr. Batson has a longstanding history of honoring his family roots, visions, and stands firm on providing exceptional customer service. When you call Batson Enterprises there’s no automated responses, you are served and greeted by a live member of his team. That’s RARE these days!

Since year one, Mr. Batson has donated all the surf rod build components that are then assembled by Bandit Custom Rods which serve as part of the to Top 3 Youth Anglers Awards. The look on the youth winners faces when they are presented with a custom surf rod is always a highlight of the tournament weekend.

It’s truly our honor to be part of the Batson Team and we can’t wait to see who this years youth winners will be.
