This was Filter x Nano Kaffee & Hyeji Kim. ☕️🎶🌀

On Sunday afternoon we met at @bar.neiro for the first Filter session with hand-brewed coffee with the aim of bringing people together through a shared focus on listening and tasting. For this collaborative edition Ramin Massah delivered seasonal coffees from his Kreuzberg roastery @nano.kaffee by bike and also served them during our session. @___hye_ji_ with the help of @sushishojo hand brewed each coffee for the guests.

Three single-origin coffees - Chelbesa, a washed organic Ethiopian, Burni Grade 1 from Java/Indonesia and Tres Dragones, a Columbian coffee from farm Cafe Grange La Esperanza (separate post on this to follow), were paired with new albums by @juliaholter, @lambchopisaband and @erykahbadu & @alanthechemist which were played on Bar Neiro’s customised Garrard 301 turntables and Altec A5 speakers.

Here is @___hye_ji_ recipe for @cafegranjalaesperanza Tres Dragones coffee roasted by @nano.kaffee:

Water: 80ppm
Temperature: 89°C
Grind size: approx. 740 microns
Brewing tools: @hario_official Neo+ Switch, Hario 03 regular filter

0:00–0:15 Pour 200g water, switch Closed
0:40 Stir 5 times
0:50 Switch Open
1:20 Pour 200g water
Brew finish time: 2:40

Thank you to everyone who joined - it was a special and intimate afternoon. Thank you to @dominorecordco, @cityslangrecords and @young_ for the music and to @bestbrew.gmbh for the coffee equipment.

It was beautiful and special to share this album in a great sounding room with such an attentive audience. Thank you to @young_ and @caiuspawson for providing the vinyl testpressing. Thank you to @bar.neiro for space and sound and to @___hye_ji_, @sushishojo, @nano.kaffee and @bestbrew.gmbh for the hand poured coffee - another good thing that takes time. 🌀

This was Reading Room x Filter 🍵📖🎶

Reading Room has always been about bringing people together through a shared love of reading and it will always be an open, welcoming and connecting space.

Two weeks ago we gathered at the beautiful @bar.neiro, tucked in Kreuzberg’s back yards, though the mood was heavier than usual after the shocking and heartbreaking news that broke the night before. We felt it was important to open our doors regardless, offering comfort and community to anyone who wanted to sit with others.

For this collaborative edition, Annabel from @yoshien welcomed everyone with a lovely cold-brew tea, while @heikoxhoffmann, founder of @filter.sessions, prepared the music for the afternoon. We settled into our books for a session of silent reading, accompanied by two beautiful albums: Through the Looking Glass by Midori Takada and Space 1.8 by Nala Sinephro. 🩵

With a smaller group than usual and the dim and rainy Summer afternoon, this edition felt especially intimate. Throughout the silent reading, we tasted a selection of @yoshien’s Japanese and Chinese teas while listening to Heiko’s music picks through Bar Neiro’s beautiful vintage Altec speakers. The sound was so clear, which made the music feel much more present than in our usual set-ups.

It was a quiet, peaceful afternoon we’re grateful to have shared with each other. Thank you to everyone who joined us, until next time.

🌼 Thanks so much again @bar.neiro, @heikoxhoffmann, @itsbella and @yoshien for this beautiful collab!

One of the Japanese tea specialty‘s from @yoshien we had for our first @reading_roooom x @filter.sessions on Sunday afternoon was a beautiful Sannenbancha from the Yamamoto Kogen highlands in the Nara prefecture. This green tea has been matured on the bush for three years before harvest. It‘s grown on Ikawa Kenichi‘s natural farm which restores abandoned farmland through biodiversity. The tea has beautiful woody notes with hints of whisky and oak and a creamy mouthfeel. 🍵🌿
