POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In early October, 5 artists from @grid_series and 4 writer/producers from @sonymusicpubaus went full 'voltron -mode' to join forces to write and record a stack of music to be pitched for sync.

The song camp is called GRIDLOCK, a creative assembly of artists from outer suburban and regional areas around Australia with aim of providing the artists the map, the conditions and creative relationships to help them get to there destination faster.

Creative Directors and Music Supervisors who spearhead some of the country's biggest TV campaigns also joined the camp, offering their expertise, guidance and support.

The songs are finished and ready to be placed so keep an eye out for some GRIDLOCK drops on your telly real soon. 📺

Next week marks the start of GRIDLOCK - a new four-day writing intensive, connecting artists from regional and
outer-suburban Australia with producers and writers from Sony Music Publishing's roster to work on collaborations for sync opportunities and artist releases.

To get us there, this week we're profiling all of the amazing artists and producers taking part in the camp:

First up, @barakathek1d

Emerging from the vibrant city of Geelong, BARAKA THE KID is an exciting talent on the Australian music scene, bringing the rich culture of his African Congolese heritage. As a versatile rapper, producer, singer-songwriter, and R&B artist, Baraka is a name you won't want to forget. His infectious energy and heartfelt lyrics make him one of "THE ONE TO WATCH" in today's music landscape. With smooth vocals and catchy melodies, he quickly captivated audiences, gaining recognition for his unique blend of pop, R&B, and hip-hop. His mastery of storytelling through music touches on themes of love, personal struggles, and social issues, making his songs relatable and impactful.

Kinda chic to nominate someone before nominations close.

There is only one week left to nominate for the 2026 Multicultural Youth Awards.

Know a young person aged 16 to 25 who is leading, creating, volunteering, supporting others, breaking barriers, or making their community proud?

Nominate them.

And if that young person is you, back yourself. Self-nominations are welcome too.

A nomination can turn recognition into opportunity and remind a young person that their story, impact and future matter.

Nominations close 31 August.
