Join us on Saturday 15 April from 14.00 - 18.00 at the opening of Thomas Renwart’s solo show ‘HIGHWAY VAGABOND’. Thomas Renwart (°1995) graduated in 2019 at LUCA School of Arts gaining his masters in Textiles. Until 2021 he worked under the alias Les Monseigneurs, as of September 2021 he took on his birth name to continue his work as a textiles artist. From there on, he developed a textiles practice where crafts-ship and poetic depictions of a horticultural universe constantly meet. Starting with written matter, a world is built around it, carefully translated into tactile matter. Thomas' techniques are jacquard weaving, embroidery, quilting and digital printing. His weaving speciality is the Damask technique, where he delves into the many ways of how this technique can grow. Monochromic weaving to him, enhances the viewing experience. The visitor has to truly imagine the colour in order to completely grasp the image. A way of not taking things for granted. HIGHWAY VAGABOND’ is the artist’ first gallery solo show. Thomas Renwart has yet participated in several group shows in Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany and USA. In 2020 he had a solo at Kunsthal Gent ‘Gilding The Lily’ which was followed with a large installation as part of the ‘Endless Exhibition’. In 2021 the artist was laureate of the Dorothy Waxman Prize 2021 by Parsons (NY ,USA) and also won two Henry Van De Velde award for his work as a textile artist. In the same year his artist book ‘Comme si de rien n'était: Catalogue & Cahier Intime’ was published by MER. B&L. In the beginning 2022 he had a solo in the Europe House (London, UK) by invitation of the Belgian Embassy and later that year the Flemish government acquired a work for the collection of the Flemish Community which is given on loan to the Mu.Zee collection in Ostend. In December 2023 he will have a solo at Kunsthalle Lissabon. @thomasrenwart Thomas Renwart ‘Highway Vagabond’ From 15/04 - 28/05/2023 Video by @shivadas.be Please contact us for more information. 📞 +32 9 391 39 13 ✉️ desk@barbegallery.be _______________________ BARBÉ, Penitentenstraat 29, 9000 Gent. Installed these 22 Fragments (ranging between #51 & #73 ) for the groupshow REFLECTIONS IN TRANSITION @barbe_urbain gallery, Ghent (BE). 👓 These works can be perceived as seperate individuals, however the compelling grid insinuates - rather invites - the viewer to experience cross relations in between seperate works and with that shows an insight into my practice and how I relate to places and time - almost as being irrelevant contexts. 💫 The show is still on view untill January 19th 2020 with great works by @natasja.mabesoone @marlies_declerck @erlendgwold @marijkevasey Get in touch with the gallery for opening hours as well as for more info on available works. - Thanks to all who came trough for this great show! 🌹 Great install shots by the master @saenenalexander Fragment #51 - #73 30 x 40 cm - 40 x 60 cm Magistra blueback 120 gr., acryllics, pigmented wall paste on board. 2019 #maxkesteloot #barbeurbaingallery #2019mightnothavebeenthatbadafterall #wouldhavebeeneasierwithoutthegridtough

’allo ’allo (met werk van @roelandtweelinckx en @justquist) tot 20 oktober bij @barbe_urbain gallery. Vandaag in @hart_magazine. . . #BarbeUrbaingallery #OliverBarbe #ChristophUrbain #contempoaryart #art #conceptualart #instagent
