What an absolutely amazing experience! Today we screened at the TCL Chinese Theater complex on the biggest screen we have ever been on. The response was so heartwarming and humbling. A real once in a lifetime event! We were right across the street from the famous El Capitan theater and a few doors down from the Dolby theater. So glad our composer @barryjneely was able to come! Thank you Indiewood Film Festival for a magnificent day!

NEW ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT | MÉMOIRE by Cellista OUT AUGUST 18, 2026 on all streaming platforms and Bandcamp. Mémoire is the sonic component and first pillar of an interdisciplinary work for aerial cello theater. It is my first-person narration of my life; an examination of grief, loss, the fragility of mind, and what happens when we risk remembrance. This is a delicate and vulnerable work and a few more pillars (choreography, film, and a book) will be built from this sonic foundation. The coming months will be devoted to this project and I hope you will join me as I forge ahead. The album was made possible by the support of the following core collaborators: Artwork @jennifercaviola (a whole story needs to be told about our starting thread that began in 2015 or so at @annodominigallery) I asked Jennifer to create a portrait of me with a paper wasp nest not long ago and I was so moved to see the final results. Lettering @zeldadevon Guitar and arranging and encouraging me to sing @jicban Engineering/mixing @ssspacemoth our long friendship made Maryam the perfect person to engineer this. My first professional gig was with Maryam and the seeds of my career started with her Mastering @beaunoise Beau has golden ears and knows the nuances of my records. So excited to be selected again for our short film “Effortless Perfection “!! This is a wonderful festival in Hollywood and will be screening at the TCL Chinese Theatres! (Yep the one with the hand prints.) Festival dates are September 10th to the 18th. Will keep all my LA friends advised of the schedule.

Essay incoming. To say I have loved the X-Men for decades…would be a bit of an understatement. When I was a kid, my mom would take me to the mall where I would sit for hours at Waldenbooks, reading X-Men comics (Age of Apocalypse: Gambit and the Xternals was my jam.) One of the first art books I ever got was how to draw the X-Men and I would lovingly trace over Wolverine and Psylocke. My 6th grade science fair project was how quickly comics degraded in different weather and bagging conditions (it was just an excuse to draw a giant Storm complete with lightning bolts to sit above my trifold board.) And of course, X-Men: The Animated Series was required viewing. Jubilee was OF COURSE my favorite (I’d role play as her in AOL rpg chat rooms lol) And so of course, when Generation X launched, I was there from issue #1. That comic also introduced me to someone who would become deeply meaningful to me, someone whose voice was destined to live in my head for decades: the White Queen herself, headmistress Emma Frost. I loved her wit. I loved her cunning. I loved her fierce dedication to her students. And of course, I loved her style (brought to life perfectly by @chrisbachalo) As an actor, I’d been trying to get on X-Men ’97 for a while. It’s one of those dream series for me, where little nerd Zehra and professional actor Zehra join perfectly. These sort of victories in our business can be few and far between. So when I found out I’d be joining this party as Emma herself… man. It just felt right. And to be able to do it with this team, this incredible group of warm and lovely humans? Man. MAN. She’s in good hands. I cannot wait for you to see where we take her next. Until then... Patience, darlings. Good things come to those who wait. Just like diamonds. 💎 Thank you to my incredible team at @dpntalentllc, @novatalentgroup, Meredith Layne, and everyone at @marvel @disney for having me aboard. MIVM_v2 I had a lot of fun this weekend with everyone at The Night Temple’s Music in Visual Media Conference! Great to see familiar faces and meet some new ones. Thank you to @thenighttemple for inviting me to perform an original song for the songwriter’s night on Saturday night. It was such an honor to have been on the bill with so many people that I respect and admire. Thank you to @anamariafusu for accompanying me on piano. It was also an honor to be in the women’s choir on orchestra night, where we sang music composed by these incredible composers: @daveporter_music @maxaruj @jimdooleymusic @macquayle @nick_soole_music @siddkhoslamusic @benjaminwallfisch and @carisa_bianca_mellado @andrew_dalziell Looking forward to next year already!

Our little film is finding a home at the LA Indie Shorts Festival and the Big Apple Film Festival in NYC! So proud of all the talented people who made this happen. Hopefully there are more homes to find!
