What is Dystopian Fiction?
The dystopian genre imagines worlds or societies where life is extremely bad because of deprivation or oppression or terror, and human society is characterized by human misery, such as squalor, oppression, disease, overcrowding, environmental destruction, or war.

Dystopian fiction worlds — whether in novels, films, comic books/graphic novels, or video games — tend to contain many of the same narrative features. Common elements of dystopian fiction include societies engaged in forever wars, and characterized by extreme social and economic class divides, mass poverty, environmental devastation, anarchy, and loss of individuality.

Introducing my main project for 2026, SO, YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE? (NOT AN OFFICIAL TITLE) 🎀🩰

I have recently fleshed out a basic brainstorm for this story and I decided to make a book out of it - It started with only a pinterest moodboard and it expanded into something more.

I am so excited to begin working on this story, there are SO MANY scene ideas and subplots I want to occur within the story. I cannot wait for you all to meet the characters for this story.

I was inspired by @bygenevaholden for the first slide! Thank you, you have helped me so much become more comfortable with my writing and creative process! :)

I have been in a writing slump for so long, not understand why or what my genre of writing was - but I eventually figured it out. I can't wait to share more :)

to the writers who unknowingly shaped my journey🫶🏻

sometimes i think about how strange the internet is.

how a random reel, a writing snippet, a moodboard, or a late-night post from a stranger can completely change the trajectory of your life.

every writer in this post has inspired me in ways they probably don't even know. some inspired me to start writing seriously, some made me believe publication wasn't an impossible dream, and some reminded me why i fell in love with storytelling in the first place.

years from now, i hope i can walk into a bookstore and find all of their books sitting on the shelves. and when that happens, i'll be the first person saying, "i knew them when they were sharing snippets on instagram."

thank you for creating, thank you for sharing your words, and thank you for making the writing community feel a little less lonely🤍
