Soulful weekend 🧚

A pause in the hamster wheel to remember that neighbors become friends, community is love, art makes life richer, and how lucky I am to be surrounded by so much of it. ❤️‍🩹

And thanks to Pat for tending to Burnadette 💜

Not to brag, but we’re your favorite bartender’s favorite spice shop.

Bar Shiru has been using our spices in their cocktail program since they opened in 2019!

This October, they’re going sweet and savory with the super briny Crossfade martini and effervescent Sun Goddess rimmed with our Paloma Sugar.

Our first collab with Umami Mart dates back to 2013: everyone’s cult favorite Umami Sea Salt.

13 years later, we’re celebrating with two perfectly spiced cocktails: The Shichimitini and The Umami Town, featuring two of our favorite umami-rich blends.

Roses on Adeline is our cocktail crush!

Their NOLA Old-Fashioned features our Herbal Coffee Tea Blend for a smooth, New Orleans-inspired tipple.

Grand Lake Kitchen has been our neighbor-besties for nearly 14 years!

For this collab, we pitched them a Gin & Tonic frozen cocktail using our Homemade Tonic Water Kit, and they delivered the most fragrant, tangy, boozy slushy around.

The esteemed chefs at Chez Panisse first toured our Grand Avenue shop in 2011, and have been using our spices ever since.

We’re honored to find ourselves on the menu of their new bar-next-door, Bar Panisse, in their expertly spiced autumnal Apple Old-Fashioned.

With drinking on the decline, nights out are becoming less about the bar and more about the experience. Vinyl analog bars are filling the gap. Built around high-quality sound systems, listening rooms and carefully curated records, they’re putting music back at the center of a night out.

This was by far the best birthday I’ve ever had. The amount of love that was in the room was indescribable, and I’m so grateful to have made it to this point in my journey. Thank you @nothinbuthits @iamebie @wsanfrancisco for all of your hard work and support, allowing me to celebrate with my people in such a beautiful space 🤎.

Thank you @dreammirrorai for being the perfect interactive touch, allowing guests to get virtually styled by me & step into a new world 🌍. This was truly the highlight of the evening!

Thank you @oyubotanica for providing clean beauty serums and lotions for us. I’m looking forward to adding these to my routine ✨

Thank you @barshiruoakland for curating a well balanced cocktail menu just for our celebration 🥂

And to everyone that came out to celebrate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You all gave me my flowers and poured so much love into me. It was everything I needed and more 🥹🫂❤️

🌅 LAND OF THE SETTING SUN🌅

Join us for an East Bay @nexussfbay #HappyHour with DJ Cavem Moetavation aka @ietef and friends as we gather to experience his new album, “Land of the Setting Sun” an instrumental hip-hop journey connecting music, growing food, and the practice of caring for the Earth.

Thursday, October 1st, 5:00-7:00pm
at @barshiruoakland - Free + open to all 21+

LAND OF THE SETTING SUN
DJ CAVEM / Dr. Ietef Vita

Produced in 2025 in Havana, Cuba and Oakland CA, this collection carries the creative influence of his time at Jazz Plaza in Havana, and as artist-in-residence at Yinka Shonibare’s @gasfoundation in Nigeria.

LAND OF THE SETTING SUN invites you to bring music into the places where life grows: your garden, your kitchen, your windowsill, your neighborhood. Put it on while you plant seeds, water your greens, prepare a plant-based meal, or take a moment to breathe.

Come listen, commune and catch the sunset.

A little glimpse of Silent Sunday at @barshiruoakland , where the owners played my albums “Days As Echoes” and “The Sea Will Outlive Us All”. It’s a listening session where people come to read, draw, knit or just listen to the whole album together.

Thank you Daniel and Shiru. What a joy to see people on the other side of the world discovering and connecting with my music! ❤️🤝

Nine listening bars around the world where hi-fi sound, vinyl culture and considered interiors make the music the main event. Many are just as serious about the food and drinks, too.

Without further ado:

Music Room, Melbourne
Walnut, leather, brass and amber glass create an intimate room inside HER, designed to feel like sitting within a speaker cabinet.
@musicroom_melbourne

New Forms, London
Aerospace-grade speakers and bespoke joinery turn this Chelsea record shop and bar into a studio-clear listening room.
@_newforms_

CUE, Amsterdam
A subterranean, vinyl-only bar built around custom speakers, rare grooves, deep cuts and precision cocktails.
@cue_amsterdam

Offtrack, Singapore
Warm timber, rotating art and carefully tuned sound meet regional selectors, Pan-Asian plates and cult cocktails.
@offtrack.sg

Roca Hi-Fi, Mexico City
Low light, vinyl-lined walls and bespoke sound meet a leafy Roma Norte terrace.
@roca_hifi

Fiasco, Porto
Crimson walls and dark timber wrap a record shop, cocktail bar and basement gallery in Bonfim.
@fiascoporto

Bar Shiru, Oakland
Blue velvet, walnut and a floor-to-ceiling record library shape this Japanese-inspired hi-fi room.
@barshiruoakland

KOMFY, Seoul
A calm second-floor home for pizza, wine and genre-fluid vinyl selections.
@komfy_seoul

A10, Tokyo
Hidden behind coin lockers in Ebisu, with wall-to-wall vinyl, high-spec sound, amber light and precise cocktails.
@a10_ebisu

Save this for your next city break — and tell us which listening bar belongs in volume two.
