Basement VHS Fest at the 4 Star Theater

It was a Sunday VHS movie bonanza at the 4 Star Theater yesterday in the Richmond. The Basement VHS Fest held not a double feature, but a Triple Feature of some of their best.. or worst.. VHS Horror film movies.

There were plenty of VHS Video Cassette Popups on campus with great vendors, and lots of analog movie fans there to shop, talk & watch some of the VHS Horror films. It the closest thing I remember to going into the VHS movie shops back in the 1980s.

My friend and I picked up some VHS movie swag, and joined the ruckus crowd for the 5:15 feature: Death Spa. It was such a phantasmagoric display of 80’s slasher gore, cyanide steam killing young co-eds, tiles coming off the shower wall to wallop the young co-eds, and demonic sister-brother shape shifters causing all kinds of grief for these LA fitness lovers.

Had a blast! Thanks to the 4 Star and Basement VHS for presenting the show..

Basement VHS Fest is this Sunday, Aug 30 @4startheater and @mitsuokubo and I are absolutely ecstatic to present these 3 films on VHS:

Phenomena (Creepers) - 2:30pm
Death Spa - 5:15pm
The Boxer's Omen - 7:30pm

To celebrate this glorious day, we've made these 4-color Risograph prints for the first 50 people that show up to each film. Did I mention that there will be local vendors slanging tapes, discs and other movie-related memorabilia? And @davidbayus @mitsuokubo and myself made shirts for each film?

Link in bio for tickets or grab an all day pass if you want to see it all! Follow us @basementvhs if you don't already. ❤️

Our last haul (see previous post) included about 200+ recorded movies and TV shows. These are always my favorites to go thru and will be available at my next event on August 30th with @basementvhs as always labels mean nothing but they're fun to look at and watch, see anything? Shoutout to these VHS legends for the art. LINK IN BIO TO GET INFO AND MAKE AN IN STORE APPOINTMENT
