💛 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 💛 I just read my first @petermswanson book, Every Vow You Break and I loved it. When I posted, several people commented The Kind Worth Killing was their favorite. As luck would have it, @basicbsguide and @dearmrhemingway are hosting #TheKindWorthKilling Buddy Read. Looking forward to reading and discussing this book at the end of the month. A devious tale of psychological suspense perfect for fans of Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train—and is soon to be a major movie directed by Agnieszka Holland. In a tantalizing set-up reminiscent of Patricia Highsmith’s classic Strangers on a Train… On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that’s going stale and his wife Miranda, who he’s sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start—he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit—a contrast that once inflamed their passion, but has now become a cliché. Who is it & how long do you think it will last? Me: based on the two main characters so far ( Lily or Ted ) … my significant other is plotting to kill me… so not very long at all. I’m currently 3/4 of the way through another buddy read : A Kind Worth Killing & loving it. I really like the chapter format with dual narratives & seriously WOW!!! on the plot twists. Who is someone that seems to always comments on your photos with something thoughtful and kind? One of those people for me is @basicbsguide, so when I found out we were going to light up bookstagram PINK today in honor of breast cancer awareness, you know I was all in. 📖 Here’s the thing about cancer: it sucks. It shows no bias, it does not discriminate, and it’s brutal. The story of fifteen year old boys, Boady and Thomas during the summer of 1976 brought back such memories for me. Although this one is set in Jessep, Missouri, it was so reminiscent of upstate New York when I was 10. The majority of their time spent outdoors, investigating lakes, trees, abandoned cars and forts. Time stood still yet they aged a decade that one summer. Each raised different from one another - race, class and expectations to name a few differences. Yet their believe in friendship, doing the right thing and family connected them. They sleuth a local crime going back a decade while getting themselves in danger along the way. Told with a strong, caring voice Allen Eskens did so beautifully. Could easily be a YA novel with its lessons and carefully told details. Terrific summer read as you could feel the heat and dust through the words of the story. Breast Cancer Awareness Stack⁣ ⁣ I cannot let this month go by and not help raise awareness or show support to the warrior women (and men) who have before or are currently battling breast cancer. (we’re all here for you & cheering you on Kaylee @literarypengwyns )! With mammograms not normally given to women until they reach the age of 40, I urge you to learn how to and regularly give yourself breast exams! ⁣ ⁣ #WhenIGetInformedITouchMyself⁣ ⁣ Here’s a few facts + statistics:⁣ ⁣ 💗 On average, every 2 minutes a women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the US⁣ ⁣ 💗 about 1 case of breast cancer per 3,000 pregnancies is diagnosed each year⁣ ⁣ 💗 Breast Cancer isn’t necessarily genetic — less than 15% of women who get breast cancer have a family member diagnosed with it (but having family history down increase your chances)⁣ ⁣ 💗 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer⁣ ⁣ 💗 black women have a higher incidence rate than white women under age 40, and are more likely to die from breast cancer at every age⁣ ⁣ Head over to Kaylee’s (@literarypengwyns) and Katie’s (@basicbsguide) accounts for more facts ⁣ ⁣ @megmcreads is also generously donating $1 for every #ReadForTheCureStack⁣ ⁣ Let’s see your pink stacks!!!!

I’m looking forward to reading this wonderful Historical Fiction read. 📖 Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia with @tinamayreads & @valerievolkow ( I’m reading it now & I’m loving how gothic and atmospheric it is so far) 📖 Six Weeks to Live by Catherine McKenzie with @danish_mustardreads & @booksandchinooks I’m a big fan of this author’s books so much and cannot wait to read her newest. . .
