Today I’m featuring the bonkers and addictive 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 by @rose_wldng which is out 5th November and which I really enjoyed! Swipe for the summary and my thoughts! Huge thanks to @baskervillejmp for letting me read an early copy! ❤️ 𝘱𝘳/𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘤𝘰𝘱𝘺 💋 My Thoughts: Cherry is honestly the most unhinged, bonkers, and twisted thriller I’ve read recently. You do have to suspend disbelief a little but it’s worth it because I think it’s a brilliantly crazy read in the best way. The narrative is split into three perspectives with some jumping back to Cherry’s time in the spotlight as a pop star. This combination of viewpoints does mean it takes a little time to work out exactly what is going on and how these characters relate to each other but I really enjoyed the way things slowly became clear and more and more disturbing as the story progressed. Cherry was a bit more bloody and gruesome than I had anticipated but I kind of loved that it wasn’t afraid to go to a pretty dark and menacing place. It definitely makes for an entertaining read from the beginning to end and would be a fun read for Halloween month. These characters, especially the titular Cherry, are intriguing and darkly captivating whilst the themes of obsession, toxic desire, rage and delusion are explored in a visceral and unsettling way. 💋 QOTD: Do you have a favourite pop star or celebrity from the 90’s? #bookreview #thrillerbooks #bookrecs #bookrecommendations #tbrlist | Netgalley

How kind of Mick Herron and his publishers to think of Spybrary — even using our signature burnt orange beneath the dust jacket of his collection of Slough House novellas, Watch the Quiet Snow. 🧡 Coincidence? We choose not to believe so. 😉 Swipe through for the dust jacket — and the signed insert, too. Who else has picked this one up — or has it on their list? #mickherron #slowhorses #sloughhouse #spybrary #thrillerbooks . @baskervillejmp @johnmurrays

My ex sent me this photo, taken by his coworker on a trip to London, where someone was reading my book on the Underground!!! And the woman beside her seems to be sneaking a peek! If you know either of these people, please let them know they made my year.

A little quick-fire round-up of what I’ve been reading, listening to and watching lately. Thoughts on the slides but here’s a brief synopsis of each. 📚 Great Granny Webster | Caroline Blackwood Dark, weird, viciously funny and completely bonkers. I loved how much it packed into such a tiny book. Thank you @viragopress for my copy. 📚 Sunstruck | William Rayfet Hunter I really wanted to love this one. Sun, secrets, privilege and a gorgeous French villa… but unfortunately it just didn’t do it for me. 📚 Stations | Louise Kennedy A really beautifully written story about friendship, obsession, love and the ways our younger selves can follow us around for years. Thank you @bloomsburypublishing and @netgalley for my e-arc. 🎧 On the Calculation of Volume I | Solvej Balle Tara Selter is stuck reliving the same day over and over. Strange, hypnotic and quietly unsettling. Definitely one that makes you think. 🎧 Almost Life | Kiran Millwood Hargrave A gorgeous, bittersweet story of love, missed chances and all the lives we might have lived. Emotional without tipping into too much. 📚 The Things We Never Say | Elizabeth Strout Quiet, observant and full of the small moments that reveal so much about people. Strout is brilliant at exploring family, memory and the things we leave unsaid. 📚 Cherry | Rose Wilding A dark and unsettling novel about friendship, power and violence. It’s gripping, atmospheric and full of secrets, with a sense of unease that builds throughout. Thank you @johnmurrayspress and @netgalley for my e-arc 📚 Snow Birds | Roisin Maguire Cold-water swimming, unlikely friendships and a fight to protect the local seabirds. Thank you to Serpents Tail for my advance copy. 🎬 Pressure Andrew Scott + D-Day + the weather determining the fate of the Allied invasion. Tense, atmospheric and a fascinating little slice of history. 📺 Ted Lasso Cheesy? Absolutely. Ridiculously heartwarming? Also absolutely. And somehow that’s exactly why it works. What have you been reading, listening to or watching lately? #BookstagramUK #CurrentlyReading #BookRecommendations #WhatIveBeenReading #BookList
