Since their formation in 2016, the duo have released a collection of exceptional albums on Peter Garbiel’s Real World Records. For The Breath, it’s all about the song. Connolly is a born storyteller, their mesmerising world of exquisitely crafted, honest, personal, heartfelt songs are as likely to touch on childhood summers and first love as cultural dislocation, post-colonial injustices and grief. Ríoghnach’s impassioned delivery and extraordinary stop-you-in-your-tracks voice backed by Stuart’s stunning chordal inversions and motorik, assured rhythm playing is a captivating and fully immersive experience live. They transmit songs that tell stories in ways that soothe, stir, exalt, and touch emotional chords that will bring tears of lamenting joy to your eyes. This is the band’s debut show in the city of Bath, specifically chosen as the artists of choice to close the 2027 Bath Fringe Festival. All tickets are seated in theatre style arrangement. Emerging Artist Highlight - Carys Ross 💜 Carys is a painter and ceramic artist exploring abstraction through mark-making, colour and texture. Her work reflects a dialogue between the handmade process and emotional expression. She graduated with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Drawing and Print from the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, in 2022. During her studies, she contributed to the curatorial team and had work featured in Objects in Mirrors Are Closer Than They Appear at Centrespace Gallery, Bristol, led by Berlin-based curator Jan-Phillip Fruehsorge. Her work was also featured in What Is Painting at LUCA School of Arts in Ghent, Belgium, in collaboration with the UWE Fine Art Cluster. Since graduating, Carys has continued to develop her practice and exhibit her work. This year alone, she has taken part in Fringe Bath Arts Festival, featured in the NEW ONLY: ONLY NEW exhibition, exhibited at Mission Gallery in Swansea, completed the Brewing residency with Sophie Tea Art, and taken part in a group show at Rust Studio in Penzance. Thank you to Carys for letting me interview her for a feature on The Exhibition Edit, and for taking the time to engage so thoughtfully with my questions. 💜
