🌳 Calendar Spotlight: Baton Rouge Green

This month’s calendar spotlight highlights Baton Rouge Green and the work they do to grow and preserve our region’s urban tree canopy.

Through tree planting, education and community partnerships, Baton Rouge Green works to increase tree coverage and bring the benefits of a healthy canopy to neighborhoods and community spaces throughout the area.

One example of that work can be seen at Hope Haven. Working with Peter Connick and the Hope Haven community, Baton Rouge Green has supplied trees and coordinated volunteers to help plant and line the campus with new trees.

Projects like this are a great example of what Baton Rouge Green does best — bringing the trees, resources and people together to make our communities greener.

We’re proud to highlight their work and the impact these trees will have at Hope Haven for years to come. 🌳

Want to build these skills with us? Applications for the 2027 Agroforestry Apprenticeship are open through October 30. Apply at the link in our bio!

This tree Tuesday is a little different…we’ve started our tree audit! SOUL doesn’t stop once the trees are in the ground💚

Thank you to Louisiana Community Forests for providing this funding through a state appropriation championed by Senator Franklin Foil.

Sometimes, the coolest place in town is simply the street with more trees. That’s the kind of difference you can feel every single day!

Tree-lined streets don’t just feel better. They work better!

Shade helps keep roads and sidewalks cooler by reducing heat-related wear on pavement. This makes daily commutes, bike rides, and everyday walks a liiiittttle more comfortable. It’s a simple reminder that the trees in our neighborhoods quietly but powerfully improve the places we use every single day!
