🎉 The Nightline is 4 years old today! 💚🎉
This album means so much to me, it was so much fun to make with my incredible band @stimplyren @beatdown2000 @wackermcstanger , Adam and @gormie_ and release it with my favourite indie label @mistletone 🥹 We had a lot of fun making this one and what a dream it was to collaborate with @sharonvanhalen and @thisisdeepseadiver on it, and have the opportunity to play Blue live with Sharon, truly the luckiest! Here are some behind the scenes things from the making of I don’t think I got around to sharing because I hate posting haha. What does The Nightline mean to you? Are you still listening to it? Set at the end of summer on a camping trip, The Great Divide follows Anna, a 12-year-old girl on the cusp of starting high school trying to find her way in the world, and her mother, Liz, who is terrified of what will happen if she lets her go.

Shot amongst iconic Australian bushland, this lyrical coming-of-age film explores emotional distance, the yearning for independence, and the inexorable push-and-pull between parents and children.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
This project began as an experiment in making a film with only the bare essentials. We stripped back the production: shooting on iPhones with a skeleton crew, staying agile, and using natural light, fire light, and the timing of the tides. Rather than imposing control, we committed to responding to the environment, letting it shape the work alongside us.

Filmed on Darkinjung and Guringai country just outside Sydney, Australia—amidst mangroves, red gums, jumping fish, native birds, and the roar of a rare seven-year emergence of the greengrocer cicada.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Nadia Townsend is a director, writer, and dramaturg with a background as a professional actor. Trained in theatre directing at VCA, her screen dramaturgy credits include Boy Swallows Universe, Black Snow, My Brilliant Career, Ghosts (Australia), and training the 100+ War Boys for George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road.

Saturday was a dream 🥹❤️ Being back on stage and opening for the absolutely ICONIC, NUMBER 1, ARIA HALL OF FAMERS - @vikaandlinda was heaven ❤️‍🔥🙌 I absolutely love these ladies so much, two of the kindest, funniest, most talented and hardest working people in the world. An honour to share the stage with them. So grateful, and my god their set was absolutely incredible! They are on tour for the rest of the year, so if they are coming to your town, get tickets asap!

It felt so nice to play some new songs at one of my favourite venues. Big thanks to @i_am_adrian_john for lending me his guitar as mine broke 2 days before it 🫠

Hello! I haven't posted much of late! How are you all?
I've watched lots of amazing music lately, Beck (that gig really resparked my love for music), Ball Park Music, Merpire, Lewis Coleman, Emma Louise, Owelu Dreamhouse, Tiana Khasi, Split Enz, Vika and Linda (got to watch @stimplyren play ROD LAVER ARENA🥹), Golden Plains Festival and Lulipalooza. So much great music, so lucky to live in this city!

I've been reading non stop, I've read 15 books this year already 😱 I got back into the ole Fantasy genre and that has been some true escapism fun! Currently tandem reading two books at once from the same book series 😂🫠

Other things I've been doing - Book club, picnics, birthdays, dinners with friends, coffee with friends, zoo visits, footy etc. Oh and I've started writing new music again, I'm feeling super inspired. What have you been up to? What are some great books you've read lately or live music you've seen and loved? Would love your recommendations on books, movies, tv shows or new albums etc

I forgot to write out my setlist in my What The Flock? field journal and take a picture before I flew to visit friends in upstate NY, so here is a digital fill in of what you heard on @kuzu929 this morning. I could say so much about most of these songs.

A bit different than what I usually play, but I hope you had fun with it if you tuned this AM. Two weeks will be a fifth Saturday, and I might be back with dear friend CM for the first What The Soup?! in a while. The theme for my first show in June is still in flux but might be all instrumental tracks (ironic after an almost no talk show, huh?).

Who was at the launch of my debut album back in 2019? ✨ Still one of my favourite shows I've ever played. Man, I miss playing with my band, it's such an epic time! I hope we can play for you at some point this year 🤞💙🙌

35 Today 🧡 Grateful as ever for another run around the sun and boy have I been running. Chasing a toddler non stop is no joke 😂 Truly grateful for the lines on my face that show a life full of love, laughter and experiences. 35 will be the year I write my fourth album and I am excited! 🎉 Let's goooo!
