I’ve been lucky to make another revolution around the Sun w/wonderful people ☀️

Something that was profound to me this night were the three candles on my cake. The woman that lit them said that they represent your past, present, and future. It was totally random for her to do that yet perfectly aligned with this journey I’m on with my life coach.

My coach (@transformwithjackie)& I have been doing Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. IFS views the mind as consisting of different sub-personalities or "parts”. IFS assumes that these parts can carry burdens from past experiences, & the goal of therapy is to help individuals understand & harmonize these internal parts.

In IFS, there are three main types of parts: Exiles, Managers, & Firefighters. Exiles🚫hold emotions & memories from painful experiences, Managers🧑‍✈️try to control & protect by setting rules & expectations, & Firefighters🧯respond impulsively to prevent overwhelming emotions.

My coach has been guiding me to explore & COMMUNICATE 🥴with these parts, fostering self-awareness & facilitating a compassionate relationship with oneself. The ultimate goal is to achieve a state of Self ✨ where I can navigate life with balance & harmony with all of these parts of me.

The exiled parts are deeply rooted, unaccepted & usually what your “blind spots” are. The managers usually come up first. For example one of my “Managers” I have named the “Judge”. This is the voice in my head that tells me I need to be perfect, smart, & hardworking. The Judge sounds like an asshole BUT he is actually there to protect me from the fear I have of not being good enough, looked down on, or seen as dumb. The Firefighters are the behavior that you do to protect yourself from feeling the thing you don’t want to. For me in this example the firefighter is over studying & over analyzing & over achieving 🙃 which leads to stress & anxiety.

I started doing this work b/c I have big plans for the future & to me that meant I need to get close to my past to figure out what needs my love and attention so that I can align with my Self and manifest everything I want into my orbit 🪐
