🗣️From the Negros 19 to Pax Silica: The people continue to resist the fascist offensive of the Marcos regime - rise up for an all-out battle to shut down the U.S.-led Pax Silica initiative from breaking ground on Philippine soil! The Negros 19 and their memory lives on through our continued organizing and our commitment to fighting for a better future for our kababayan and our homeland. In the coming weeks, our fight to oppose the Pax Silica initiative and prevent the final signing of the deal at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit on November 16–18 will be a critical period. With public outrage mounting and investors “spooked” by the outcry of the Filipino people, we in BAYAN USA believe in the will of the people to truly shut down Pax Silica, and that the Filipino diaspora can make a concrete contribution to this surmountable fight, including returning home to participate in the mainstream struggle. ‼️October 19: Day of Action 🔻Six months after the massacre in Toboso, Negros Occidental, we remember the 19 people killed—including two minors, a journalist, a university student leader, human rights advocates, and our dear friends Lyle Prijoles and Kai Sorem. Today, across the United States Filipino community members, allies, friends, and family will hold vigils and rallies to honor those killed and continue demanding for justice for the Negros 19. 🗣️Hustisya para sa Negros 19!

Three years ago I had an incredible and powerful opportunity to drive for the Midwest leg of the @kapitbisigst tour, headlined by Filipino Labor Leader, Elmer “Ka Bong” Labog, then the chairman of the @kilusangmayouno (KMU). I got to hear Ka Bong speak in union halls and picket lines, to less than a dozen people in a living room and rallies with a thousand; the message was clear, despite deepening repression and creeping US imperialism, the militant and revolutionary workers of the Philippines are fighting back and winning power for workers through the genuine trade union program of the KMU. KMU leader Jude Fernandez was killed as the trip was underway, underscoring the incredible threat that the militant trade union sector faced, across the Midwest banners were dipped in solidarity and recognition of the ultimate price paid for a just and lasting peace. Ka Bong’s trip took place during UAW’s Stand Up Strike. Ka Bong brought greetings of fraternity and international solidarity to striking workers on behalf of the revolutionary trade union movement in the Philippines. One of the highlights was was huge rally in Chicago with UAW Local 551, an incredible show of solidarity and the power of a strike. For me, the trip was an incredible privilege and honor to hear from UAW members from across Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and Minnesota about their ultimately victorious shop floor campaign against production speed ups and continued corporate greed. And to hear from Ka Bong about the growing struggle for national liberation against US Imperialism and the local compradors, being waged by the Filipino people. Filipino singer Mark Mabasa’s first immigration hearing since his detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was postponed Oct. 2 to Nov. 5, according to the Tanggol Migrante Movement, which called for his release and urged Philippine officials to press for information about his case. The conditions to resist are excellent, so we must be excellent too. This weekend, the Philippine solidarity movement mobilized in Toronto, Canada for @ichrp.global’s historic @kapitbisigconference. Our organization was one of 96 organizations from around the world gathering to amplify the issues of the Filipino people and support the advancement of the national democratic movement with a socialist perspective in the Philippines. We called to reject the Pax Silica initiative, marched against U.S.-led war, plunder, and terror, and studied how the path to national sovereignty is achieved through advancing the national democratic revolution. Coming out of the conference, we’re united to march toward broader and bolder Philippine solidarity 🕊️

Traitorous Philippine diplomats have nowhere to hide in NYC! Enrique Manalo is “doing a lot more” than us. He is selling out the resources of the Philippines to U.S. companies and investors through initiatives like Pax Silica and the Luzon Economic Corridor, all to line the pockets of local ruling elite, including himself, and foreign capitalists. Pax Silica promises the U.S. and its corporations free land and mineral wealth in the Philippines to build an AI hub, while displacing indigenous people and farmers and making the archipelago a target for war.
