‼️Nieves, Chairperson of BAYAN USA asks: who are the real national heroes of the Filipino people?

🚫It is not the corrupt and traitorous government officials like DFA Secretary Tess Lazaro or DENR Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna, who gathered in New York this week for the UN General Assembly. Nor is it Marcos Jr himself, the fascist lapdog to U.S. imperialism.

🙌 It is the Filipino people themselves who are the true heroes and advancing our society! Filipino migrants struggling against unjust detention, Aeta indigenous communities resisting displacement from the U.S. Pax Silica AI initiative. The fighters in the mountains, standing in the way of total foreign domination and plunder. These are the real heroes, who are fighting for Philippine sovereignty!

So today, we demand from the Philippine government:
1. Release Christina Pasion! Justice for Gordon - end state repression!
2. Independent investigation of the Toboso Massacre now!
3. Release and protect all unjustly detained Filipinos!

Traitorous Philippine diplomats have nowhere to hide in NYC!

Enrique Manalo is “doing a lot more” than us. He is selling out the resources of the Philippines to U.S. companies and investors through initiatives like Pax Silica and the Luzon Economic Corridor, all to line the pockets of local ruling elite, including himself, and foreign capitalists.

Pax Silica promises the U.S. and its corporations free land and mineral wealth in the Philippines to build an AI hub, while displacing indigenous people and farmers and making the archipelago a target for war.

Wherever the people resist the plunder of their land, they are repressed through fascist state violence, armed and trained by the U.S. That is why the Philippines is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for land defenders.

As the Philippines speaks at the UN on the 26th, we demand from PH officials:

As U.S. neoliberal policies and military aggression intensify the suffering of the Filipino, Puerto Rican, Korean, and oppressed peoples all over the world, more and more diaspora organizers are returning to our homelands to see for ourselves the effects of U.S. imperialism on our peoples.

The Philippines is not for sale! Shut the Pax Down!

On Sept 10th, Marcos unleashed police on the hundreds of peaceful demonstrators outside the BGC in Taguig City, leaving dozens injured, arresting five paralegals and charging 3 additional people, including BAYAN Chair Teddy Casino. The mass movement was peacefully protesting Pax Silica and Marcos’ latest attempt to sell off Philippine sovereignty in the form of the Luzon Economic Corridor Investment Forum.

The LEC Forum hosted some of the most corrupt Philippine, U.S. and Japanese officials, and hundreds of greedy corporate representatives and private investors, discussing development schemes that would turn over Philippine land and resources into military weapons manufacturing for U.S. led wars. A significant number of companies in attendance, especially from the US (AeroVironment, Versar Global Solutions, Cerberus Capital Management, Relyant Global, and others) - have deep ties to militarism and defense contracting.

With Marcos selling out the Philippines to the United States through the LEC and Pax Silica, and with the continued escalation of his fascist tactics—including the police’s recent announcement that they will deploy 15,000 police officers during the September 21 martial law anniversary protest in the Philippines—we as BAYAN USA call on our kababayan to join the U.S.-wide launch of the Shut the Pax Down Coalition on September 20 and enliven the mass movement during the week of action from September 20–26.

Together, let us confront the corrupted representatives of Marcos Jr. such as Ambassador Jose Romualdez, who will attend the United Nations General Assembly in an attempt to continue promoting Marcos’s agenda. by @bayanusa_

1. Protect Philippine sovereignty from greedy politicians who surrender our land, resources, people to foreign interests.

2. Remove from government posts, hold accountable and jail all those culpable for anomalous flood control projects and other corruption schemes, including in the consular and migrant worker offices abroad.

3. Take back all stolen wealth and return it to the Filipino people.

4. Abolish all forms of corruption schemes, pork barrel and confidential and intelligence funds.

5. End the control of political dynasties in the Philippine government.

Filipinos abroad have everything to lose if Pax Silica were to push through. The subjugation of the Philippine economy to the US’ economic and geopolitical interests itself creates the massive poverty that gives rise to forced migration. The ESZ would set a dangerous precedent in exacerbating this subservience. Filipinos abroad also play a critical role in fighting back against Pax Silica. We are working and living in the very countries signed onto the initiative: the United States, Australia, Korea, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, and many more. These governments, as well as the companies and even universities based there, are all targets for our campaign.

BAYAN International calls on all Filipinos abroad to continue arousing, organizing, and mobilizing our fellow communities and solidarity friends around the issue of Pax Silica and US intervention.
