Through the eyes of the cockroach, this hourlong dance theater work weaves movement, spoken Arabic text, and electronic music into a collage of borders, war, and a generation that rises up against a broken system. Excerpts from “From the Eyes of the Cockroach” by @ryujiyamaguchi, ahead of its October 30th and 31st premiere. A Work in Progress showing of a dance by Ryuji for students from @kingsacademyjor. Become Ocean, a watery improvisation of music and dance led by @mkafena and @katheringing. A music and dance collaboration between @ahmed_alsayyed0 and @lourmadanat. And a solo by visiting French dancer Hugo Olagnon @dentsdeprison. The night closed with a live group improvisation led by Ryuji Yamaguchi and Emran Alamareen @bboymowgliii, dancers and musicians composing together in the moment. Midan Dance Performance September 3rd at @albaladtheater @midandance A night of shared presence, movement, and music. @neuro.mechanicss returned with a new poetry in motion solo. @qattanious continued with his group developing the work in progress, and @bboymowgliii and @lourmadanat presented a new duo, also shown as a work in progress. The evening finished with a 40 minute unstructured improvised performance by dancers and musicians. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the room what it was.
