Thanks for making it special, and safe travels back home. We'll be publishing a gallery with all of the best photos from the show very soon. And don't despair, we're active all year round so keep following us for cargo bike inspiration!

We're also publishing Carrier, our magazine telling the human stories behind the cargo bike, in the spring. So stay tuned for that too.

➔ While we've got you; if you have any feedback about ICBF 2026, please reach out and let us know. We'll be sending out an evaluation soon, but even if you don't get it, we want to hear what worked and what didn't at the show this year. That way, we can improve it for 2027. Our DMs are open!

𝚃𝚠𝚒𝚌𝚎 𝚊𝚜 𝚏𝚊𝚜𝚝. 𝚃𝚎𝚗 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎𝚜 𝚌𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚙𝚎𝚛.

What 7,300+ tracked deliveries in Brussels tell us about cargo bikes versus delivery vans:

The Study
➔ A 2023 Brussels-based study fitted GPS trackers to nine e-cargo bikes, recording 7,340 deliveries across 907 routes over 1.5 months. The study, carried out by Kale AI, @urbike and @larryvsharry, looked at speed, productivity, costs and environmental impact, comparing the data gathered to simulated van routes using the Google Maps API.

️Speed: Twice as fast
➔ 48 mins vs 99 mins: average route completion time for an 8.5km run vs. simulated van routes.
➔16 km/h average speed: cargo bikes maintained consistent speeds. Vans averaged 11 km/h due to congestion.
➔30% shorter routes: access to cycling infrastructure and local shortcuts reduced distance travelled.

Productivity: Double the deliveries
➔ 10.1 deliveries/hr by e-cargo bike vs. 4.9 by van.
➔ Cargo bikes parked within 30 metres from the door on average, drastically reducing walking time. Meanwhile, previous studies have shown that vans can spend up to 25 min per stop just searching for parking.

Costs: Ten times cheaper
➔ €0.10 estimated operating cost per parcel for cargo bikes.
➔ €1.10 per parcel for small diesel vans; €1.05 for small electric vans.
➔ Cargo bikes also have lower capital expenditure, minimal maintenance, and zero parking fees going for them.

Environmental impact: 98% fewer emissions
➔ 98% lower lifecycle emissions compared to diesel vans; 96% compared to electric vans.
➔ The study also points out that switching to electric vans doesn't solve space or congestion issues. Meanwhile, the smaller size and nimbleness of cargo bikes directly reduces strain on urban space.

A broadcast studio on a bike? Yes, it exists; @broadcastbike does exactly what it says on the tin. Bart Buerman rides it from Rotterdam, where he's based, to @cargobikefest and many other events throughout the year.

🍿 Want to check out his work? Head to our YouTube channel to check out all of the presentations and sessions from ICBF 2025 and 2024. And – when he's not looking 𝘵𝘰𝘰 busy – go and say hi at the show.

🇫🇷🚲📦 🅒🅨🅒🅛🅞🅛🅞🅖🅘🅢🅣🅘🅠🅤🅔

The French term for cycle logistics was just voted word of the year by the Commission for the Enrichment of the French Language! Cargo bikes and cycle logistics are becoming mainstream in France, with countless initiatives, manufacturers and companies associated with the best way of getting goods from A to B in cities; and this is just another sign of that trend.

𝘊𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 won a poll to elect the term of the year, in which voters chose between 10 words, pre-selected from the 243 added to the French language in 2025. 30% of the vote went to what the commission called, "A transparent term, constructed with a prefix ("cyclo-") understandable to all, whose victory testifies to a shared desire to live in more sustainable cities!"

Want to find out more about developments around 𝘊𝘺𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘲𝘶𝘦 in France? Check out @lesboitesavelofrance, the French cycle logistics federation.

When everything bicycle logistics comes together, kicked-off by a supportive minster @crucke6487 , you get a booming federation @bclf.be that creates insights, inspiration and motivation to keep building. #route33
Especially when @rtbf makes such a nice coverage of our work! Staring our own urban rebels @unbullittdanslaville and @annettecanette !
