Of course bodybuilders need isolation work...BUT... If you *only* consider body parts separately, you the lack of efficiency can leave you weaker overall. And more importantly, it can also lead to a visually incomplete physique on stage. 👉 Work with coaches who handle these considerations for you. 👉 Click the "COACHING & CONSULTS" button in our bio @team3dmj #Team3DMJ

Periodization is intentionally focusing on something now that contributes to some desired outcome in the future. Programming is manipulating variables to maintain progress over time. Every training plan involves intentional programming, but not every plan needs to consider long term periodization. Most strength programs do, but most hypertrophy programs do not. 👉 Do you need a coach that fully understands these concepts and can build a program tailored to your goals? 👉 Visit the COACHING button in our bio @team3dmj #Team3DMJ

You, like me, might be stuck in this cycle: 1. Training smart and conservative because I just was rehabbing an injury 2. Things are feeling really good in the gym 3. Getting the itch to dial it up or add something new 4. I do it, but way too fast 5. New injury, have to scale back (back to #1) Here’s another one I’m guilty of: 1. Feeling great, training is going well, but I’m bored. 2. Pick up a new hobby or get back into an old one (ex: rock climbing) 3. Don’t modify my training to accommodate the new thing 4. Go way too hard, way too soon 5. Something pops 6. No longer doing the hobby for a while (back to #1) I know the cycle. I’m fully aware of it, and it’s something I see regularly in my patients. Yet, I’m consistently guilty of repeating it. It’s why I originally worked with @bdminor years ago to help me get back into training in the gym and build my best physique to date. It’s why I’m currently working with @coach_q_physio to help me manage multiple chronic injuries at the same time. If you are someone who also finds yourself in this cycle, it’s ok. And you’re not crazy. But also, don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Coaches need coaches, PTs need PTs, and mentors need mentors. Investing more into myself is something I’ve never regretted. And getting accountability, guidance and support was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself; both personally and professionally.

The smaller the target, the bigger the consequences. During the off-season (or even early in a dieting phase), a couple hundred cals is not usually big deal. But deep in prep, those errors become more costly. 🔹 🔹 🔹 Want to learn how to balance dietary accuracy, flexibility, and consistency for any stage of your lifting career? We'll teach you in the "NUTRITION FOR HYPERTROPHY & STRENGTH" video course. 👉 Click the button in our bio for a direct link @team3dmj #Team3DMJ #ContestPrep #BodybuildingNutrition

As much as you may want to be alone in your bodybuilding journey, it affects everyone around you in some way. Don't boast about it, but don't hide it either. If you don't tell them, it makes things very awkward (and sometimes concerning) when your behavior or appearance changes. If you do tell them, it makes things much simpler, less heavy, and less isolating for everyone. A good coach will help you navigate these often-forgotten parts of the sport on your way to the stage. Work with us at the "COACHING" link in our bio @team3dmj #Team3DMJ

Periodization for bodybuilders doesn't matter until it does. For beginners and early stage intermediates, stay focused on executing your plan week after week. Don't worry about how the training blocks stack up over time just yet. Favorable changes will come either way. Once you've go the basics down and have committed for the long haul, the potential upside that can come from intelligent periodization can make a true difference — especially as you become more advanced and start approaching your genetic potential. Our coaches can help you at any point in this journey. Click the "COACHING" button in our bio @team3dmj 💪 #Team3DMJ

💥 NEW POD!💥 Brian, Alberto, and Brad discuss how to make the most of maintenance phases, and why they're so important...👇 🧠 HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN TODAY'S NEW SHOW: 🔹 Why are maintenance phases sometimes superior to gaining phases? 🔹 Why do our coaches program less intentional surpluses than they used to? 🔹 What is the difference between weight maintenance and progress maintenance? 🔹 Are DEXA scans helpful for programming? 🔹 How do elite powerlifters put on muscle while minimizing fat gain? 🔹 If you gain body fat while your lifts go up, are you still progressively overloading? 🔹 Do we ever have athletes run "dreamer bulks" anymore? 🔹 In what situations do we program an intentional surplus instead of a maintenance phase? ...and more! ⬇️ Find the 3DMJ Podcast on Spotify, YouTube & Apple Podcasts 💪 ⬆️ #Team3DMJ

In bodybuilding, like in life, you need different people for different things. If you care deeply about bodybuilding, and have nobody in your life to share that with, it can be very lonely and isolating. But, if you ONLY have other serious bodybuilders in your life, you might lose your grasp on what it takes to be healthily functioning human in society. There's an important mix of individuals within every community, and your bodybuilding journey will only be enhanced by honoring that fact. 🔹 🔹 🔹 GET COACHING & COURSES AT 👉 3dmusclejourney.com 👈 #Team3DMJ
