A common tendency I see with younger hitters is the back leg extending up too quickly as they start to rotate. Instead, we want to feel that back knee driving down and staying connected to the ground. Even as the front leg starts to extend, keeping that back knee down helps us stay in our legs and continue using the ground to create force through the swing. When that back leg extends too early, we can pop up out of our posture, change our eye level, and ultimately change the level and plane of the swing. This is a good feel for any hitter, even if staying in your legs is already something you do well. Use the ground, keep the back knee down, and let the rotation happen from a strong position. #BackLegDrive #GroundForce #LowerHalfMechanics

Great coaches don’t just tell players what to do—they have conversations with them that help them understand why they need to do it. Ask questions. Listen. Challenge their thinking. Help them find the solution. Don’t just give players the answer. Teach them how to find the answer. The goal isn’t just to make better players today. It’s to develop players who can think, adjust, and get better on their own. #Baseball #BaseballCoach #PlayerDevelopment #Coaching #Leadership

YES YES YES vs. YES YES NO Great hitters aren’t passive. They step in the box looking to do damage. YES YES YES See it. Trust it. ATTACK IT. YES YES NO See it. Commit to it. Then shut it down. The goal isn’t to swing at everything. The goal is to have an aggressive mindset within your zone. Hunt your pitch. Expect to hit it hard. When you get it—DON’T MISS IT. Train aggressive. Think aggressive. Hit aggressive. If you want to become a more dangerous hitter, get in the cage and train the approach—not just the swing. #AggressiveHitting #HittingApproach #BaseballTraining #BaseballIQ

This QAB competition is a good example of how we're using TrackMan at BFP to help hitters understand what actually gives them the best chance to have a quality at-bat. To earn a QAB, our first two priorities are simple: hit the ball hard and don't chase a ball throughout the at-bat. From there, we add bonus points when hitters get into what we're calling our three "super advantage counts"—2-0, 3-0, and 3-1. If you get into one of those counts and hit the ball hard in one of your individual hot quadrants that we've identified through TrackMan, you earn an additional point. The goal is to teach hitters that having a good approach isn't the same for everyone. We want to understand our individual hot and cold zones, recognize when the count gives us an advantage, and hunt the pitches and locations that give us the highest probability of doing damage. That's how we want to use TrackMan at BFP—not just to collect numbers, but to help hitters understand their swing, build an individualized approach, and ultimately create more quality at-bats. #QualityAtBats #TrackManHitting #HittingApproach

The two-tee drill is one of my favorite ways to add a reactionary element into tee work. The hitter doesn't know which ball they're swinging at until they're coming out of their load and moving into their stride. This forces them to stay neutral instead of cheating toward the inside or outside pitch before the swing even starts. The goal is to keep the eyes focused through the middle and put the body in a position where we're prepared to hit either pitch. Once the pitch is called, we have to react, adjust our contact point, and get the barrel to the right spot. It's still controlled tee work, but now we're adding reaction, adjustability, and the ability to prepare for multiple pitch locations. #TwoTeeDrill #HittingAdjustability #PitchLocation
