The friendships cultivated on this journey for BOTH Jed and me have been such a blessing. Such an UNEXPECTED blessings! Watching him with his friends since birth and getting a chance to connect with their mamas is the absolute best!! The Down syndrome community continues to wow me.

We went to a birthday party of a friend in the Down syndrome community, yesterday. It was amazing and celebratory for sure! But what really struck me was how connected I felt simply by being in the presence of other parents who get it! Other children who understand and connect with Jed. It’s such a wonderful feeling! If YOU do not feel the connection, reach out!! While we may be states away, there are always ways to connect online and find local groups. It’s a wonderful thing to know and love others with disabilities!

Community support is everything. We are not designed to do this life alone.
We are stronger together.

On @happinessisdownsyndrome, today, we are sharing about our community experiences. Personally, I have no idea how I would have gotten through my early diagnosis days without the community I found within @thedsdn. One of the reasons I started @happinessisdownsyndrome was because I wanted to foster even more connection and encourage newly diagnosed parents.

I’m grateful for what I’ve found and what I foster. It’s so important to remember that we ALL have something to offer this community. We’ve been given varied and vast giftings and the world needs to experience those! Build one another up! Encourage one another! Cut out the competition and comparison and focus on what YOU can give.

What a day! We spent Jed’s third birthday, today, at @sesameplace with dear friends in the Down syndrome community. I will never forget the magic in BOTH Clay and Jed’s eyes as they watched familiar characters dancing and talking to them.

I have so many clips to get through from the last few weeks 🫠 but here are a few to get us going! So proud of all of my Spring 1 fishies and their parents ❤️ As an instructor, I reached some professional milestones this session that were really really exciting. Getting full blown swims out of baby toddlers, like 16-18 month olds, which is no easy feat and takes experience and time and work in the off-season. Seeing my roster have the most diversity to date, something that is so important to me. And then of course, working with my first incredible baby with Down Syndrome whose achievements make my heart explode 🥹

It was a great 6 weeks 🥰 Time for rest, exercise, sunshine, and QT with my own babies before doing it all again in 2 weeks!
