Yes, my husband plays guitar for Ms. Lauryn Hill. And yes, I am wildly proud of him.

But Zach’s bravest, most beautiful acts have happened far from any stage. They are the ways he keeps saying yes.

He said yes to my voice before I trusted it—hearing me sing with wonder, teaching me my first chords, and playing beside the first songs that flowed out of me.

Early in our relationship—after six years of knowing each other—one of his relatives called me “a groupie.”

I was livid.

I was already a singer, songwriter, artist, collaborator, and whole person with a calling of my own. Believing in his dream never made me less devoted to mine.

In autumn 2018, I called him from a punk house in Ohio while I was on my own musical tour. I had taken a positive pregnancy test. He did not hesitate. He said yes to becoming a father with me.

That yes became Zia.

Just weeks after I bought 100 rural acres—a future that had not necessarily been part of his map—he told me, on the same day, that he wanted to marry me and try for another child.

Those yeses became Onyx and, four years ago today, full-band improvised wedding vows at Paradise Lakes.

Then, this February, our daughter Juniper was stillborn.

Through labor, birth, and the impossible hospital hours, Zach was beside me: my husband, my cheerleader, and my doula.

We knew grief like this could tear a relationship apart. We chose to turn toward each other and strengthen ours.

We have tried. We have fucked up. We have tried again. We are still learning to support each other without disappearing; to disentangle love from codependence; and to choose each other freely.

Zach, I love your devotion to your work with Ms. Lauryn Hill. I love the dream you refused to abandon. But I do not love you because of the stages you stand on.

I love who you are on them, off them, and inside this beautiful, impossible life we keep choosing.

Four years married. Eighteen years of knowing you. Nearly sixteen years of music. Three children. More love, loss, repair, laughter, and becoming than any carousel can hold.

I will choose you again.
And again.
And again.

I was going to do this alone.

Thursday night, after I put my children to bed, I’ll enter my studio with my voice, crystal bowls, chimes, tongue drum, and prayer. I’ll allow sound and vibration to carry me into a deeply receptive state as Earth’s shadow moves across the Pisces Full Moon.

Then I thought: why keep the room closed? Collective prayer is stronger.

This eclipse falls across the Pisces–Virgo axis: the place where surrender meets discernment, where spirit meets embodiment, and where what we intuitively know must become something we are willing to live.

I am approaching it as a potent threshold for releasing the histories, roles, attachments, and old patterns that may be occupying space meant for our more fully aligned futures.

In ecological systems, fire is not only destruction. Some pinecones remain sealed until intense heat opens them, releasing seeds into the newly cleared earth. Sometimes what feels like an ending is the precise condition through which dormant life becomes possible.

Sound cannot choose your path for you. It can help quiet the noise, soften the body’s grip on an old story, and create enough space to hear what your soul has already been saying.

You do not need perfect ceremonial conditions. Join from bed, your backyard, the end of a long day, or even while setting up at a festival. Your camera can remain off. Listen as fully as you can and become part of the collective prayer.

Moon Bloom! I intended to make a quick festival announcement and ended up recording a very long, very relevant story revealing why I feel so strongly that I am meant to tend the Sacred Fire and offer support services there.

An unseasonably chilly day, a fire, a few candles, and an unanticipated moment of reflection set the scene.

This monologue is about fire, grief, renewal, voice, and why I’ve decided to step more fully into Earthtoned while accepting an invitation to help tend the Sacred Fire at the @moonbloomfestival Fire Altar.

I share reflections on growing up in the Pine Barrens of South Jersey, where fire is not destruction but an essential force of regeneration; helping build @beardfestnj over the past 15 years and witnessing a beloved creation enter a season of rest; moving to Central New York and unexpectedly falling in love with the daily practice of tending woodstoves; and how teachings from @the_emerald_podcast deepened my relationship with fire as both an ecological and spiritual force.

I also speak about the loss of my daughter, Juniper, at 35 weeks of pregnancy, the loss of my first dog and familiar, Reishi, just ten days later, and the perspective and calling that emerged through grief.

For years, I’ve lived at the intersections of ecology, music, healing, community-building, and transformation. Through Earthtoned, my music with @edenspore , and collaborations with people like @_zeelo , I’ve been slowly weaving these threads together. This season has challenged me to stop keeping them separate and instead offer them more fully to the world.

That’s part of why I’m honored to join @weavingwisdom in tending the Sacred Fire, supporting the Fire Altar and Rebirthing Ceremony, and offering private Earthtoned Sound, Ground, and Release Sessions throughout the Moonbloom weekend.

Because that’s what fire does.

It reveals what is ready to be released.

And in the space left behind, something new can grow.

Collaboration is good medicine. 🌱 To celebrate the Spring Equinox (Fri 3/20) we’re releasing “Fruitful Harvest” — a 75-minute sound bath album across 14 tracks, recorded live in one take.

This project began as a one-day studio experiment between three friends from the Philly music scene who had never collaborated before. After seeing @seanyoungmanmusic and @mikeparisibassist offer a sound bath at @beardfestnj 2024, @edenspore proposed combining their work with her practice of sound healing and improvisational channeling.
A few hours of setup, a little mind-melding… and the whole album was recorded in one take on Midsummer 2024. ☀️

In the 19 months since, so much has changed—for us and for the world. Releasing this music now feels like the right moment to help bring sound healing into our collective routines.
