Made for at-risk and CPS involved children in mind.🩵

Imagine being taken from your home in the middle of the night as a child and taken away from your family or caretaker who was unfit, or never having a family at all and waiting for YEARS to be adopted. Imagine never being adopted.. and aging out of the foster care system into an “adult” with no family at all. Imagine not knowing where youre going to sleep the next night as a child. Scared, sad, hurt, abused, alone.
There are so many children in Houston who live this reality every day and it’s absolutely heartbreaking 💔
This idea was inspired when I learned about @bearhouston , a nonprofit who help and create hope for at risk and CPS involved children. I recently attended one of their events and it lit a fire inside of me. To help, to do more. That’s when Red Balloon 🎈 Just For You was born 🩷.
These are custom made quilts with a matching bag and items that are just something a little bit extra to help children feel important, cared about and create a sense of hope that someone cares, and that they are deserving of love and so much more. As children need necessities- I wanted to make something a little bit more for them. Something just for them! As giving out meals to the homeless and hungry could potentially provide a sense of worthiness and inspiration, these bags can do that for children- our most valuable human assets.

Their futures depend on us and are shaped by their adolescent experiences. As nothing I do ever feels like it’s “enough”, These bags are a small piece of light for children who really need it. And they are made because of YOU! Donated items will be added to these blanket bags. I do the sewing! 🥰 Each bag is different and created for boys and girls in different and every age range. Infant to 17. Please visit “RB🎈 Just For You” list and donate items that can make these bags possible. Link 🔗 in bio, comments and pinned on this page. I can’t wait to share these with organizations like BEAR (Be a Resource) and others that can help get these to children in need.

A heartfelt thank you to @deborahduncankhoutv and the @greatdayhouston team for joining us at @bearhouston and helping shine a spotlight on an organization doing truly life-changing work for children and families with involvement in the child welfare system.

In case you missed it, we were honored to spend the day assembling baby hygiene bags and preparing school supplies for children involved in CPS through BEAR, which works alongside the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to provide hope and help for at-risk and CPS-involved children and their caregivers, ensuring they have access to essential resources, comfort, and support during some of life's most challenging moments.

While we work every day to keep homes powered, we're equally passionate about supporting the people and communities that make our communities so special. Thank you to Deborah and Great Day Houston for helping raise awareness for this incredible organization, and to the entire BEAR team for the compassion and care you provide every single day.

We are excited to host a #BEARCaresDrive starting through Sunday, 9/20 for Be A Resource, a non-profit organization improving lives by providing hope and help for at-risk and CPS-involved children and their caretakers in the greater Houston area.🤍 We will have a box in the studio where you can drop off any items you bring to donate.🧸

There are a variety of things you can give, but this is a list of critically needed items they suggest:

•Hygiene Packs (which include 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner, bars of soap, individual
toothbrushes and toothpaste, and deodorant – should you want to assemble your own!)
•Hair care products (lice shampoo, hair ties, and hair brush/comb)
•Baby Hygiene Packs (which include baby wash, baby lotion, baby powder, and diaper rash
ointment – should you want to assemble your own!)
•Baby wipes
•Formula (all types)
•Diapers (NB – size 6)
•Baby items (pacifier, bib, receiving blanket, and ‘sippy’ cup)
•Feminine hygiene products (pads and tampons)
•Clothing of all sizes (NB – adult)
•Pajamas of all sizes (NB – adult)
•Socks of all sizes (NB – adult)
•Shoes of all sizes
•Underwear of all sizes (child – adult)
•Stuffed animals
•Toys
•Books
•Blankets
•Diaper/duffle bags/backpack/overnight bags ("Children sometimes have to use trash-bags
to hold their items. Together, we can make sure they have more than just a plastic bag.")

We recently had the privilege of volunteering with @bearhouston BEAR (Be A Resource) for the very first time, and it was an experience we won't soon forget. 🧡

BEAR improves local lives by providing hope and help for at-risk and CPS-involved children and their caretakers in the greater Houston area. BEAR is the only 501(c)(3) organization working with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and Harris County Resources for Children and Adults that offers unique programs that provide not only the basic needs of children recently uprooted, but also supportive services that provide comfort, dignity and celebration of successes that propel the child toward a successful future.

Together, we spent the day assembling baby hygiene bags and sorting and preparing school supplies. Every backpack, every diaper and every essential item represents a small act of care that can make a meaningful difference during a difficult time.

At Frontier Utilities, we're proud to power Texas homes, but we're just as committed to strengthening the communities we serve. Thank you to BEAR for the incredible work you do to ensure children have the resources, comfort and support they deserve. We're grateful to have been a small part of your mission and look forward to volunteering together again.

🧸 DONATION DRIVE: BEAR...Be A Resource 🧸

This September 14th–20th, we're coming together as a studio community to support children in need! Our #BEARCares Drive is collecting critically needed items such as formula, diapers & wipes, NEW clothing, pajamas, hygiene supplies, and more to benefit Be A Resource.

Each month, the BEAR Rooms provide approximately 3,000 abused, neglected, and at-risk children with essential items. Sometimes, the difference between a child who goes to school and one who doesn’t is a pair of shoes, a notebook, and a pencil. Oftentimes, the difference between an infant who is healthy and one who isn’t is formula or diapers/wipes. BEAR ensures that this special population of children will not have to go another day without things that we all take for granted.

Every donation makes a difference. Drop off your items at the studio anytime during class hours, September 14–20.
