Somehow, life is taking me to NYC. 🗽✨

Becoming a CRNA has been a dream of mine for years, and after a lot of doubt, growth, long shifts, and self-reflection, I’m still a little shocked to say this out loud: I’ll be moving (and hopefully Joshy will be joining me soon) to attend Columbia University for my Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia. 🤍

My path here has been anything but linear — from the military in a non-healthcare role, to nursing school full time while still transitioning out of the military, to adult ICU nursing, working through a pandemic, travel nursing, pediatric ICU, and even a round of summer camp spending time with some of the purest and most deserving kids ever.

ICU nursing, especially during the pandemic, changed me. It was intense, exhausting, and heavy in a way that’s hard to explain, but it also created an unspoken bond with the nurses who lived it alongside me. I learned how fragile life is, how resilient people can be, and how important it is to keep showing up for others even when you’re running on empty.

And somewhere between all the hard moments, there were also the small ones I know I’ll carry forever — braiding countless patient’s hair after sometimes fighting impossible knots, holding babies while charting because they just wanted to be close to someone, decorating rooms for holidays, and laughing with coworkers at 3AM hard enough to forget for a second how exhausted we all were.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that, this dream never left. When I first looked into CRNA programs, Columbia was always the one…so far out of reach it felt almost unreal to even say out loud.

And now…here we are.

So here’s to the version of me who would come home after a shift completely drained, sit in the quiet, and still open CRNA program pages like it was a secret she was almost afraid to fully believe in. The one who doubted it, questioned it, and still quietly kept it alive anyway.

We made it. 🫶

Seek To Be Grateful 🌳🌱🏔️
I spent my first weekend of 27 at one of my favorite places on earth surrounded by so many beautiful amazing individuals that make you feel whole. Seek is so special. I always say that this retreat not only helps heal stuff within the kids, but also within all of us adults too. Every year I learn something new about myself because of how wise these kids are. It’s such an honor to be able to see these young people grow because of the tools we’re given, and just how open we are with our experiences in life. We shed some tears, had A LOT of laughter, and so many hugs. The candlelight ceremony is always my favorite night because of how we’re able to open up with each other and pass no judgement. I truly love every single person in these pictures. Remember to be gracious to yourself, because we’re our biggest critics when we need to realize that we are human and shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves.
