Step right up, step right up!

This year, I'm a participating artist in The CONTACT Photo Fest 2026! @contactphoto

Drawing on oral histories, archives and documentation, as well as the collective memory of those who lived under dictatorial rule, this exhibition analyzes and illustrates the ways that my two motherlands - Portugal and Brazil - would combat existential circumstance through artistic manifestation. This is a show that is near and dear to my heart, and it is my sincere hope that you pop by and find something that my remind you of your own family archives.

OPENING CELEBRATION: Sat. May 16th, 4-6pm.
The Northern Contemporary Gallery, 420 Roncesvalles Ave, Toronto, ON M6R 2N2

DATES: May 14th - 19th, 2026.

See you there ;)

Hey look! I'm an Adobe partner 📷💖!

Today I'm partnering with @adobefirefly to demonstrate the power of Firefly's newest mood boards! If you're anything like me (obsessed w photo 📸) you'll know, they can sometimes get out of hand and very messy! Well, no longer! Firefly's moodboards help us creatives organize our messy thoughts - making it easy to share, edit and clarify.

Get creative with @adobecreativecloud <3

Beatriz Simas, Adobe Max Winner for Photography, 2025. (灬º‿º灬)♡

A month ago, I received the news that I would be flown out to Los Angeles, California, to receive a prize for my work, The First Supper, at the Adobe 2025 conference.
This week was something that one only dreams of - from meeting icons of the industry, (@davidsuhphoto , @adam_theillustrator , @jamesgunn , @markrober ) to making worldwide creative friends, to bringing Canada to the big stage (esp. during the world series) I have had the experience of a lifetime. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, and everything it had to offer. My most heartfelt congratulations to my fellow winners, you will always have a friend in Canada, and of course, thank you to Adobe for allowing dreams to come true. ✨🍁

It's been a busy few days in the art world 🌐💫
Firstly, to the HHCC, thank you so much for the W.J Blackhall Award. To have the HHCC acquire my work is something I'll cherish forever <3
Secondly, thank you so much for screening my short film, A Familia Estranha at the DVSSS Film Awards. To have people acknowledge your hard work is something unmatched. (And the mini Oscar is so cute)
Lastly, to my dear friends who participated in my brain child, Faces, Places, and Traces, THANK YOU SO MUCH. This has been an ongoing / developing project since the beginning of this year. Whilst it was not always smooth sailing, I thank you all for your participation, patience, and belief in my ability to put this show together!!!
These past few days have allowed me to reflect on the wonderful journey I've had throughout my undergrad, and I appreciate the fact that I was able to end my journey on a high ♡
*also remind me never to take event photos on film, I need instant gratification *
