Maybe you’re doing the same work.

Learning to fuel your body without fear.
Move because you love what your body can do.
Get stronger instead of smaller.
Rest without guilt.

And if we all choose to live this way, imagine the girls we get to raise.

Girls who know they’re strong.
Girls who know food is fuel.
Girls who love what their bodies can do.

Maybe we’re not just changing our own relationship with our bodies.

Maybe we’re raising the next generation of stronger girls. 🤍

5 years ago yesterday, September 21, 2021, was the hit that led to my TBI.

I had no idea that one moment would change the trajectory of my life.

I didn’t know how long recovery would take.
I didn’t know if I’d ever feel like myself again.
I didn’t know if I’d ever be an athlete again.

I remember praying for one more time on the field.
One full day without a migraine.
One day where my body would just let me be me.

And today, I get to look back and say:

thank God THIS is my hard now.

Thank God for the ability to compete again.
Thank God for 5-mile runs.
Thank God for heavy lifts.
Thank God for mornings and evenings I get to enjoy.
Thank God for a schedule full of work I love.
Thank God for TYG.
Thank God for the ability to coach.
Thank God for the strength to help others become strong.

Because I never want to take a healthy day for granted.

I never want to forget what it felt like to not have the ability to do the things I desperately wanted to do.

And maybe the biggest thing I’ve learned is that God doesn’t waste our hardest seasons.

I once wondered if I would ever make it to the other side of this TBI.

I didn’t know that God would use that season to call me to more, to help other people become strong.

“Now go, for I am sending you.”
— Exodus 3:10

Five years later, I’m not looking back wishing it never happened.

I’m looking back grateful for the God who carried me through it.

The life I prayed for then is the life I get to live now.

And I will never take that for granted. 🤍

Proof that big big prayers turn into big big blessings. We prayed for this moment with these people far before we ever knew the venue, the date, the college, or the people. I am beyond grateful for the promise land. 🤍

One of the greatest gifts of coaching has been getting a front-row seat to watch people become stronger.

Not just physically…

I see parents showing up after a night of little sleep.

I see professionals squeezing in a workout between meetings.

I see college students building confidence one lift at a time.

I see moms and dads choosing to invest in their health so they can better show up for the people they love.

I see strangers become teammates.

I see hard things become possible.

And every day, I’m reminded that coaching has never just been about helping people lift more weight.

It’s about helping people believe they’re capable of more than they thought.

Getting stronger is just the beginning. What a gift it is to be part of a community like this. 🤍
