Prioritize well in your life, whatever your priorities may be.

The main difficulties of pursuing strength training lie in the mundane tasks we accomplish outside of the gym.

One major focus is the persistent requirement to consume large quantities of food. For many individuals, the act of eating poses the greatest challenge to gaining strength. Many of us initially started training due to the dopaminergic response it provides, along with the desire to continually progress in our lifts. However, significant obstacles to progress emerge in the form of limited time, financial constraints, social obligations, familial commitments, work responsibilities, and various other factors that so frustratingly consume the majority of our time. These things however, are incredibly important and are what make up the majority of our lives. It is up to us to differentiate between these necessary time consumers, and the things that completely waste our time. The irony here being that I am posting on an app of which most is meant for entertainment.

JM Blakely aptly articulated the notion that true strength gains do not occur within the confines of the gym. Although training in the gym provides the sexy stimulus, the actual growth and recovery take place through proper nutrition, adequate sleep, and sufficient hydration. In today's era, characterized by an abundance of technology, pervasive blue light exposure, distractions, relentless pursuit of dopamine rushes, and countless competing elements vying for our attention, cultivating the "Mindset" as so eloquently referred to by a screaming Eric Bugenhagen is what will keep us focused on our ultimate goals. This mindset enables us to overcome the inherent impulses of our primal brains, which seek immediate gratification, and instead compel us to engage in the mundane tasks of prioritizing early bedtimes, pre-emptively preparing meals, and sacrificing instant gratification for the sake of our ultimate desire—strength. In short, it takes a different kind of MF to want to get stronger.

“Grateful” doesn’t even begin to cover it. 10 photos isn’t nearly enough to show all the people that are consistently blessing my life. Even though it’s been a rough year for us all, the past few months I’ve often found myself tearing up because I am so full of gratitude. I have THE most thoughtful and supportive husband, the best friends in the world, and the sweetest parents/step parents/in-laws. They have all been angels supporting me through some of the toughest years of my life. I am so thankful to have received an incredible education and found a job that I absolutely adore. I’m thankful for compassionate doctors who have gotten me through some tough health issues. And above all, I’m thankful for a God who loves me enough to bless me with so much. 💛 #givethanks
